We see it on the mountains in the distance also, thankfully nothing close by. We have that shiny new snowblower that came with the house, it is just sitting there. Wish we could let you borrow it Ursula. The dang thing is way too big for us.

You know how those things go, though Alice. If you do give it away some day, then for sure it will snow at your house and you'll need it, even if you have to hire someone to run it for you.

On the other hand there will be some guy with a 4WD truck with a blade on the front that will probably clear your driveway in 5 minutes, for less than it would cost to hire the snowblower wrangler.

Can't wait to see your pictures of all those daffodils in bloom!

I have a smaller sized Wardian case terrarium. It seems to do real well if I leave it alone. Which I do. Just add water. Full of CPs and such. Noticed this flower
Utricularia fulva

What a sweet thing, Ted. Yes, a Wardian case would be a great tool out there where you have lower humidity. They get green and messy here. Too humid altogether.

I bring it in the house during the coldest months, Elaine. But normally just lives in a bright area among the orchids.

There was another bud in the case that opened.
Pinguicula primuliflora

And the case itself. Kept near the grow light stand to get some light during the winter.

Yep, that corkscrew is already pushing it. But it does love it in there.

Its all my bad. I found my terrarium aquarium alongside the road, picked it up and stuck it in the barn. After a year or two in the barn, I admit I did not do a good job of cleaning it before use.

And now, another year on, my terrarium full of drosera and orchids is growing some greyish mold on the inside of the glass. Any thoughts on how to clean it without killing the occupants or taking it all apart? I'm going to try some fungicide on a cloth then figure out how to clean the glass. Windex on a cloth? I use windex to clean the inside walls of my greenhouse; it hasn't harmed any plants yet.

Yes, Windex on a cloth or paper towels, not sprayed, should be fine. The active ingredient in it is ammonia NH3 and so it's not harmful to the plants for the most part.

If it has hard water deposits on it, you might need to use vinegar on a paper towel for that. Then rinse off with a wet cloth or sponge to dilute and remove enough of the vinegar - it will harm the plants if you get it on them at full strength,

I always clean my then empty greenhouse in the Spring on the inside with Swiffer wet-wipes! Those wipes are great!
If you can carefully wipe the glass without dribbles over the plants, it should take care of it?

I hope so. This tank is distilled water only so no hard water spots.

The Masdevallia from Andy's is blooming again, this time with more than one flower per stem. I never heard back from Andy's but if I search far enough, I do find caloptera with flowers like my plant.

My Philo Brasil is out of control. This is growing on the large WIRE that suspends my heater's thermostat (that funky looking hanging thing is an air sampler that turns the cooling and heating on and off). There is a totem behind it that the main portion of the Brasil actually grows on, this was a renegade stem that found its way over and decided to take advantage.

No that's the only one, Sedumzz. We live in Brea, CA. About 15 mile ESE of Downtown LA as the crow flies. Closer to 30 by car. Zone 10b. The Wardian case is inside now, and will go back outside in a couple of weeks.
