Yes …like the video… Hurray! Hellebores are Super plants….Deer resistant , vole, ground squirrel and gopher, mice and slugs…don't ya wish all our plants were that tough? And the lowest maintenance plant in the entire garden.
The older varieties set seed and over the years have spread into a nice full blooming area in early spring. The newer hybrids are sterile but the older hellebores in my garden they are not sterile and have cross bred on their own and so many new combinations of color and even doubles pop up.
It's fun every spring to find out what new combo pops up.

I had the old versions when I lived in Columbia, SC, that was probably the southern edge of their growing zone. Like you said, they re seeded like crazy and I loved it, they grew in a shaded area and made a beautiful ground cover. I am told these newer ones just make a larger and larger clump that can be divided.

Alice I have a few hybrids they are very fancy , pretty doubles and ruffled petals and yes I agree they form nice clumps.
The stinking hellebore grows like a small bush some are as tall as 3' with lime green - yellow flowers. They do live up to their name .."Stinky" odor. 😳

Walking around the yard, spied this what I believe is an African Iris. Starting to bloom all over the front, east facing, side of the house.

Dietes, Fortnight Lily or African Iris (they look alike to me). They reseed like crazy, I've got them everywhere.

Something a little early here -
This is a pot of Galanthus nivalis, mostly flore pleno. Snowdrops! It is sitting against the housewall in a very protected corner. I just placed it on top of the step for a picture.

This is the Hellebore Mahogany Snow, it is my 5th in less than 2 weeks. I seem to be obsessed with them. I also got one called Glenda's Gloss but she is not in full bloom yet.

They're wonderful plants, Alice. You'll enjoy them for years to come.

If I had to move to the mountains from Florida I'm sure I'd be buying Hellebores too. Anything that blooms in the 'dead of winter' year after year is a winner to me. My starburst clerodendrums have nice big clusters of buds right now - they seem to be really happy with the rain we've been having this winter.

It has been dry here, I think these daffodils would be blooming if we had some rain. There are hundreds of daffs around the property. Hurray!

See the messy grass, it is bluestem I think, the extension office here advocates cutting them and all grasses to the ground each year. Well, that did not happen so I have been trying to yank the dead parts out. Not fun.

Had to move the begonias today. They were on a plant stand in front of a window and we are having the windows cleaned tomorrow. Found the plant stand on amazon and putting it together was like playing with Lincoln Logs.

Alice, is your house 2 story with basement? For fun, we were looking at new houses with big yard in NC and most are 2 story and vinyl with no basement. I thought you would need a basement up north.

I worry about 2 story if I will not be able to go up the stairs.

Tree peonies!!! I am going to have to find one (or more Hilarious! )

Gigi, the main part of the house with everything we need including the garage and laundry, is on one floor. The basement is walk out, full of windows except on one back wall. the front part is guest bedrooms and the back part is my playroom. We can't do steps on a regular basis. That was the problem in finding a home, most had too many steps or were on a cliff. I don't see much vinyl except out in the country.
