Thinking shallow rooted. I didn't know that. That explains alot. It was one of the first things I planted here. Tiny plant, just stuck it in a small pocket of dirt in the ledge. Shrug! Wondered how it has managed to survive all these years and look healthy. Just need to trim it a couple of times during the season to keep it small and sort of "tree form". Which is a pain because of where its located.

Pretty Azealia and lilac. Thumbs up Peony Sorbet survival Hurray! I found out after the fact (so the usual Hilarious! ) that Peonies in general don't like to be moved or divided. Found out when I divided mine into 4 plants one year. I thought I killed it. Probably cried. Hilarious! Took a couple of years to look not dead but last year all four bloomed. Smiling

Zoia, I think more people pay attention to the funny signs than the rest. Use Yah Blinkah or however they write that one...it sticks with you. Hilarious!

K,
As the saying goes "1st year they sleep, 2nd year they creep, 3rd year they leap!".
Some of my peonies I'm growing from bareroot have yet to bloom in 4 years. D'Oh! They are putting on growth though and I have moved them to new locations so hopefully they'll bloom next year!?! My more mature ones that I've moved while leaving the root ball intact have done much better and will still bloom the next year. I just moved my Festiva Maximas last fall and they have a bunch of buds! It's the cutting of the tubers that really affects them I think.

I'm sure your right Summerbee. Smiling Cutting the Peony into 4 pieces is probably what did it. I'm glad it survived my "gardening" Hilarious!

Sad situation all around. But in all honesty...I'm most disturbed by her choice in roof color. 😎 Clearly, this lady is a rebel. Hilarious!

This lady has a serious problem! Can't believe she is a retired teacher! If she had a house fire, wonder how she'd get out her front door. I'm surprised the county doesn't condemn the home. I know of cases where a home has been condemned for less!

Trust me...there is always a "process" involved that takes forever. I know a similar house and those "in charge" often fail to act. Sometimes the house is cleaned out and then refilled a short time later. The actual "problem" (mental illness) is hard to address/solve. 😩
But the board of health etc. has a duty to act if there is a safety/health hazard present. I certainly wouldn't want to live near that house.

We were away to NH this weekend to go hiking before the mosquitoes come out. Will post separately on that when time permits.

On the way back we visited that butterfly place in MA. Super fun, but warm and humid so my camera was out of commission (lens kept fogging up within a second after being wiped D'Oh! ), but the cellphone worked at least. Thumbs up

As for the hiking, usual woodland stuff.
One common wildflower I have never seen before but which has great leaves. Lovey dubby

Every time I see a picture of a trillium, I think of my mom. They were her favorite. She grew them in her woodland wildflower garden.

Tried to grow Trillium last year and it died, but we do have loads of Trout lilies in the woods.

Fabulous butterfly photos, Orion!!! Lovey dubby I tip my hat to you.

Saw this posted on Songbird Gardens' FB page and thought it was hilarious:

Yeah, that was on the Oakes Dayllies site once. I think I posted it here long ago, but it needs a good rerun!

The two babies have left the metal bird house. Not sure when this happened. I had hoped to see that. Hope they are ok. Will miss seeing those busy parents coming and going as they cared for them. Lovey dubby

Do any of you order irises online and if so, where? I'm considering Schreiner's & Sutton Iris...
Sutton seems to have better pricing but comparable shipping.
I shouldn't order any because they are very temperamental for me and I have a very love/hate relationship with them and hardly anywhere to plant them. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Plus, I've already blown my "plant budget" (<- what's that?) for the year.... Whistling 😎
