Ok, all you enablers---yesterday I was shopping for plants to put on the almost-sheer front of the rock garden that surrounds my pond's filter box, and I ended up with several varieties of semps.
You can see the area just to the right of the bench in this photo. Not much soil or water, full blasting sun in the summer, and temps between 107 in the summer and 20 in the winter. I couldn't think of anything better than tough sempervivum!

And PS, that's not MY my white concrete fence...

Some of them are dark, but some are green (HAH!)....I've even got name tags. I think I got 4 varieties. I'll check the database to see if they're listed before I toss the containers and forget them all...LOL!

Janet, if you don't find their names in the database just go in and add a new plant. You can just fill in the info you have and I will do the rest. If you don't feel comfortable doing that let me know the names and I will put them in for you and you can add the pictures. Thumbs up
Can't wait to see which ones you got. Whistling

Well, it seems you may have two new converts. LOL I have been going thru all of the info on the forum and I am awestruck. I can't believe I missed mamajacks co op earlier this year. Everything on your forum is wonderful. Oh well, back to studying, so I can know what to do with my semps coming from Bluestone. Thank you all for the wonderful picks. Now I need to find a good source, but I see you all also have some links.

Oh, Lynn, the link you posted to #1 didn't take.

Jan, hope you found the info on the co-op thread. It took me forever to get it typed in. I think it's because the link is so long.
Debbie I am so glad you are enjoying the info provided by so many great people here on these threads and other information links. We are having a great time with our baby databases adding pictures with date of photo so we all can see the changes these wonderful plants go through. We look forward to having your photos added to the database. When is your Bluestone order arriving? Which ones did your order? If you want I can make sure they are in the database for you and all you'll have to do is add the pictures. Thumbs up

3 Sir Wm. Lawrence Sempervivum is all that I ordered. But, as I started looking for ideas of what to do with them, I found ya'll. Hello.............. hooked like a fish. Do you have a favorite source? I see many on the horizon. I just have to find out what grows together and such. But I am learning as I read. Smiling

I see that Kent Beauty is listed as a companion plant and I have 3 of those coming too. Now, I'm off to find some jelly beans and Sedum origanum and whatever else to go with them. It's a small start, but, it's a start. Smiling

Hi Debbie, welcome! We all started small - just got carried away over the years! Before you order any more, there is a trade forum here too. I realize you're just getting started and won't have any semps or sedum for trade but maybe you have other plants. If I can ever manage to get caught up on some stuff around here I will have a bunch to either trade or would be happy to just send you some. Stay tuned..... Smiling

In the Trading Forum start a new thread and list what you have to trade. We will all check in on your thread and let you know what we have to trade to get you started with more semps & sedum. Hurray! Big Grin
I will be back home next Monday and see what is ready to go at my place. Big Grin

I just recieved the monthly newsletter from Plant Delights Nursery. Within the newsletter was a disturbing release about a new invasive species hitting our gardens and even crossing over to houseplants. Something all of us need to be aware of. Please watch the video from Utah State Extension Service. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

I found it very disturbing. I will check my yard and house plants as soon as I get back home. Hope Charleen sees this. I will have to go out shopping for Pink Flamingos to help control them. Not sure my two Rat Terriers will work for this.
You just know that if it comes from Plant Delights it has to be true. Blinking Big Grin

My MIL had a particularly severe infestation in her yard in Southern California. I had to treat and quarantine every plant I brought from her place before introducing it into my garden, or I would have been overrun with the darn things. Thanks for reminding me to be continually vigilant!!
