I saw those the other day Kin, really an exceptional buy. Thumbs up What a wonderful gardening companion you have, what is it's name? I didn't get any as I am trying to just stay with named varieties now. By the way, the red one I sent home with you is a NOID, the other is Rita Jane. She isn't a heavy producer but her color and texture fascinate me. Saving some of the Big Red for you.
twit & Chris, when Big Red is ready I will send you each 3 chicks.

'Purdy's Big Red' is the plant of the month. I just counted her chicks again, she is up to 36 and still showing signs of making chicks from every leaf.
You can see her on the right side of this page.

twit, today I noticed some of them are starting to grow visible stolons. They are starting to reach for the ground. Hurray! What determined little babies they are. Hurray!

My parents came down on Sat and dropped off a bunch of old pots they had in their basement. There were 4 Strawberry type pots each one a different size. I probably gave them to them planted at one time or another. Guess I will have to look for a few plants that grow well in those type of pots. Hilarious!

Go to the Companion Plant Database Holly. Lots of things for ideas there. Also the
Container Database. You'll find the link for them in the Right Side Info Box.
Can't wait to see what you do with those. Thumbs up

Molly I didn't do anything. I don't use fertilizer or anything else. Don't even water except when we get into end of July or early Aug (100+ degrees). We don't usually get rain in the summer months. But even then I water them sparingly. I have four plants of Big Red, the other 3 are not doing this way. I have read that this variety can on occasion do this. I will take pictures of the other 3 plants.
This one started showing signs of fast growth while in the raised bed, so I potted it up so it wouldn't crowd out the other three. It just never stopped growing, and is still making more chicks. Hope it will not be her demise.
