Nice looking zucchini! And good job squishing that SVB moth. I'm not sure I'd even recognize one.

Are your other tomatoes starting to turn at all yet?

In order to have a continuous crop I have to keep planting. Sometimes we scramble to have enough to sell. But We'll only do market through Oct. we'll have sweet potatoes and lettuce and broccoli, more than we can eat. Fairly easy crops to do. Then I'll get a break! Until seed starting starts again in Jan.! Hilarious!

You do work hard but I know a garden is so rewarding. Not to mention all that yummy stuff to eat.

Yes, sometimes things can't wait. Best to sell what you have.

My neighbor wanted zucchini a week ago. Now I have zucchini but the kids are at away camp so she doesn't want zucs or eggplants. Told me she would take them next week. Ha! they don't keep.

I recognise the SVB moth cause I googled for pictures. I wanted to know what I was up against. And I let those zucs get larger than I usually do. Oh well, more to eat.

Yes, starting on the large tomatoes getting ripe. Just afew here or there but at least it is a start.

Hurray!
w
I picked a produce tray full of peppers today! And Silver Queen corn (8 ears - just enough for us). There are five trays of tomatoes and two trays of cukes plus about 3 bags of beans, garlic, honey and bouquets for market tomorrow.

Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray Arlene. You did real good! I tip my hat to you.

And I impressed that you have tomatoes for market. I bet the customers will be really happy! Thumbs up And lots of other yummies also. I bet that home grown corn tastes fantastic.

I have never grow corn, never tried as the racoons are here each night and I figgure they would get to it before I did.

I don't have ripe tomatoes yet. well, except for the cherry types. In fact my neighbor the great cook saw me at the end of my driveway and came over saying oh good, I need some red tomatoes. I don't have any red tomatoes. What do you mean, you have no red tomatoes? Last year you had red tomatoes, I need red tomatoes to put on sandwiches. Well, no last year I probably didn't have them this soon yet either. I want red tomatoes myself too but I can't make them turn red. Second person to ask me for tomatoes today! If you had extras, I'd be asking you for a few, instead of these acorns!

Once the tomatoes start ripening, I always have extras. I planted a ton of plants. And I like to share, I give bags and bags and bags of tomatoes away. But it is too early. The plants are loaded with green tomatoes that are not even showing a blush yet. Three of them did blush but I picked them for myself and am waiting for them to turn on my kitchen counter. And the point is they are my plants, I did all the work, I get those first few ones that ripen and I don't give those away. But all my neighbors are impatient for red tomatoes.

That same neighbor asked me for tomatoes two days ago. Two days later I still don't have any!

I know exactly how you feel. I have one variety that is not producing a lot but it's my favorite so today I decided NOT to sell ANY of that variety! I'm eating them ALL myself!!! Hilarious! Hilarious!

If some of your tomatoes are blushing it won't be long now! Then when they start coming in you'll go crazy picking them all! Do you try to keep them separated by variety so you know which ones you want to plant again? That's what makes ours hard, keeping them separated. I have 20 varieties, some producing lots, some just a few. And I can tell most of them by looking at them but some are very similar. I got some collapsible produce trays from my SIL who works for a produce company, and they have been a big help. And they're stackable! I just finished making up the name tags for each variety to mark the baskets tomorrow. No taste tests though!

I just finished 11 bouquets so now it's off to shower and up at 5:30. I sure hope Miranda watches a video tomorrow so Grandma can take a nap! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Sell out at market! Thumbs up

I don't mark and keep separate as I pick. I do my own taste testes though and mark all tomatoes for those taste tests. I have some tried and true varieties that I know I prefer for myself and always pick separatly some of those to bring in the house for myself.

Well, let me change that. As I pick a bunch from each different tomato variety, it is piled up next to the plants of that variety. Then when I put them in bags acording to who I am going to givce them to that day (how many people) then I mix up the varieties so some of each goes in each bag. So whoever gets them can't ID the tomato varieties. I don't grow heirlooms so don't have many that would be distinctive on their own.

My neighbor the great cook came by giving me some bean salad that she has made. So I cut her two zucchini and one eggplant. She said she had grilled the last zucchini that I gave her and that it was so good.

I never planted wax beans. This year I have those fancy french fillet beans planted. We shall see if they live up to the rave reviews!

Rob, those tomatoes look terrific. But mine are mostly all still green also. OH well, at least there are lots of them. When they start turning ripe there will be more tomatoes than I know what to do with.
