Char....Great looking blooms. On my seedlings "Hidden Camera X Whales Tail', you are correct. Those 2 seedlings are double the size of my other seedlings. I won them from Steve Todd (Ahead -on the LA) along with another fantastic cross 'Softly and Tenderly' X 'Victoria Josephine'( a beautiful new Todd intro this year). Thanks, Char, for the description on "Hidden Camera'. Hard to tell from the picture. For me, it was intuition, to buy those seeds. I tip my hat to you.

Well...thought everything I have that was going to bloom had already done so. I have a few that gave no blooms this year, but today I noticed a scape starting up on 'Jungle Beauty'.

Also, was driving along today after work and noticed someone selling daylily's on the roadside. I'm assuming they are things they culled from their own gardens. I picked up a couple of nice ones for just $4 each. Grabbed 'Royal Viking' and 'Stevie's Wonder'. Hey...guess what? They are older ones. (Big surprise there, huh?) RV has already bloomed out, SW still has a couple buds on it. Figured for that price, what the hell....been meaning to add more purples and yellows anyhow.

Since that night last week when the temps dropped down into the 40's, my daylilies have shrunk in size, and even tho the daytime temps are in the high 70's, many of the lily's are not opening correctly. The weather this summer has been a test of extremes. Our TV weatherman says we should be in the 80's. Apparently, a cold front has been hovering over the New England coastline. Rain tonight, and intermittent showers tomorrow. Looks like I will be taking pix again in the rain tomorrow. Here's an example of bloom that didn't open correctly. "Count Your Assets" (Nicole). A huge flower that I tried mightily to coerce to open, until one of the petal's broke. It's a FFO that had never bloomed before, added to my garden last September. Of course, I wanted to see what it looked like. It's the old saying, 'curiosity killed the cat'!

Only a handful of blooms to post today.

REAL WIND

STOP AND STARE - New to the garden this year. Has been blooming for several weeks. Took awhile to find its true stripes. Lovely bloom.

Thumb of 2013-07-29/ARoseblush/0f20f3

RED VELVET ELVIS - 2nd bloom, showing a lot more loopy edge and some teeth on that edge.

STROBELIGHT SEDUCTION - 2nd and 3rd flower

Thumb of 2013-07-29/ARoseblush/ed76ee and

BARBARA MANDRELL - Blooming for a month now. Has increased from 3 fans to 6 fans in 3 months since it was planted in May. Phenominal plant, beautiful bloom.

Michele, once again you were right. The incredible 'Dragonfly Dawn' that you sent to me in May, has sent up another scape! And I thought it was finished blooming for this year. Nice surprise. Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

Also, spent 45 minutes on the phone yesterday with hybridizer Pete Harry. Such a nice, nice man. He was working in his gardens when I called.
I straightened out an incorrect order that he sent to me last year, and I didn't find out until the plants bloomed last week. 2 plants were incorrect.
He is replacing both plants with new plants, and he let me pick out a bonus plant of my choose. He suggested a bonus, and I took him up on it on a new intro of his called, 'Your Place, Or Mine' - a daylily with really phenomenal genetics, and tends to develop teeth even though he did not breed for that. He told me that plants that have really 'large edges' can and may develop teeth just by chance. I learned so much from our chat on the phone, I could have talked to him for hours. I was flying when I got off the phone with him.

As some may remember I moved last year and brought my gardens with me so my daylilies and other plants are not up to speed as yet and need some more time to get settled in. It's interesting to see what has really done well with the move and what has not. Some plants don't look like they missed a beat at all but others suffer from short scapes and smaller bloom......next year will be a different story. There are a couple of standouts even though they have been moved and were replanted last fall. It's always been one of my favorites but Scandinavia is blooming right now and I am swooning over every flower. This UF cascade has 4 way branching and it only got planted last fall. Another that I will always have in my garden that's blooming now is PEGGY JEFFCOAT, one of the prettiest doubles I've ever seen. PEGGY JEFFCOAT is planted in one of my perennial gardens so it can show off those gorgeous double blooms. I've added some others that have done well also.

Here's a few from the past week. The weather's been difficult- a couple of cool nights and lots of intermittent rain. Wonder Of It All mostly hangs up now- does it perform better for folks in warmer climes? The top right photo is "Jame's Prissy Kristi"; the picture after "Sculpted Treasure" is my ffo for "Wild Child". It'll get much nicer in a few days.

Here's some that I've lost track of the labels. During our seven cold months of each year when nothing's growing, our dogs roam through the beds. When the snowpack is very thin or absent (October and November) they've broken some of the plant tags. Since last year, I've started burying a portion of each tag including the name, so hopefully this will be less of a problem. But meanwhile, I have 50 or so varieties that I alway ask, "Wow! I wonder what that is?"

Wow Keith!!! Gorgeous blooms!!! That 2nd NoID looks really familiar to me, but I can't put a name on it. The 3rd one is a little less familiar, but I could swear I've seen it before. No idea on the others.
