No idea what's going on. But it is good that you documented it, and I hope you take some notes along with it. I have a folder for Lily anomalies of my own, so I can keep track of any things that might produce a pattern.

There have been times when I have gone back to particular posts (on DG/ATP/NGA) to retrieve information that I thought I had recorded personally. I've never regretted my attempts to be thorough in my explanations here.

This is my bid to get some useful information out of you, Joe. We don't even know what kind of lily it is!

Ok Rick I will try to give you what little info there is left. I was making my 5 min rounds out in the garden before I must leave to catch my train to work this morning, taking off the unopened anthers of lilies I want to work with possibly and as I was taking these off Sarabande (OT) I noticed these little projections on it. I collected the anthers off two blooms that were freshly opened and all the anthers from one bloom were normal and all from the other had these projections. I will say I think I did see this earlier in the year once but did not take note as I did today. Sarabande has a decent amount of papillae and my only guess to what is happening is that it may have possibly be in the earliest stages of becoming a petaloid and stopped morphing. Just a guess but I thought they definitely looked like crab legs......and now I want crab legs! Lol

My martasian bulblet leaves were ravaged by either a lily or Japanese beetle a few weeks ago. New leaves have started poking up. There is now a protector in the pot!

Dave, I have a Franken lily this year with 3 stigmas; one normal and 2 somewhat deformed.

Joe, that is one great protector! I had one in the garden last year but it liked to catch and eat honeybees. I even caught the action with my camera!

I just discovered we have a microbadge called "Gardens in Buckets".

I think I qualify, since I was doing it before it became a "thing".

My first fasciated stem:

This is what it looked like last year - three flowers and about 2' tall (~61cm).

This is one of @vanozzi's bulbs. Had it in the garden bed last year; moved it to a tub with some fresh potting mix, compost and slow-release fertiliser in Autumn, along with a number of others as one of a select group of breeding plants. Clearly it likes the environment!
