WOW!!

I got a call this morning from a shipping company, saying they had a 400 pound skid from ADR bulbs and would like to schedule its delivery. !!!?! The "bulb sorting party" isn't for another month, and I don't have the facilities to store bulbs cool (so they won't break dormancy, keeping them a bit easier to plant). Fortunately, it turned out to be easy to turn the shipment around and send the bulbs back to the warehouse, but that sure gave me an adrenaline jump!

Glitches happen with any company, but I have to say the customer service at ADR is top notch.. no question, no need for me to forward the correspondence setting the later deliver date, they just said no worries, they'd take care of it and ship the bulbs when I want them. Free shipping, too, since I'm organizing a purchase for a gardening group.

I got mine too. But I have a cool spot where they can hang out until I am ready to plant in early Nov after the garden is all cleaned up and all the other shipments have arrived. I did mark all the boxes so the organization has started. The ADR quality is excellent. Nice folks too. Patti

In their rush to get everything out after a late harvest this year, they FedEx'd me some boxes this week. The coolest storage I have is just keeping them inside, 70-75 degrees. They didn't think that was a good temp for holding until our pick-up party, so they're going to have them picked up and then send them again with everything next month.

Whoo! Hoo! the bulbs came--well some of them did.
Now, I am looking at 100s, and wondering how Rita does 1000s?
Tulips are Matador Red, Haley's Comet, Guinevere and SunGold.
All Darwin hybrids.
Daffodils are Ice Follies and Quail.
And have Dutch Master too.
Spending the rest of the week digging! happily!

I can't believe I neglected to take a photo of the pallet before unpacking it, but I got distracted once I realized there were several varieties that had been double-delivered, and I was anxious to check the rest of the order.

The bulb sorting party was yesterday, and it was a great success! 3 participants (including 2 who weren't able to make it to the party) came by last week and spent a couple hours each helping sort the varieties, so we had maybe half a dozen varieties left to sort yesterday... took about an hour, then another hour to pull and check all the orders.

BOY am I glad I didn't offer to do mail orders! Not that I don't like "spreadin the love," but I can only imagine how overwhelming it would have become. Between some who were having their bulbs delivered by other participants and some of my neighbors/family who participated, we had 17 people in this group buy. Everybody (including me) was really pleased with the size & quality of the bulbs. I told folks I'd be happy to help organize another such order, since I think I've got a pretty good system figured out, but somebody else would have to volunteer to take delivery and host the bulb sorting!

Now, it's time to turn my attention to planting these bulbs along with too many pots of perennials!

Hi y'all,

Here's my fall order from Colorblends and Van Engelen.

Colorblends: arrived last week.
100 Tulip Double Time- front and side beds of the front walkway
100 Tulip Parrott Blend-front of front rose bed
100 Tulip Gudoshnik-under Kwanzan cherry trees
100 Tulip Moris Gudonov-left front bed
200 Daffodil Minnow-back beds around lilies

Van Engelen: waiting for this arrival
3 peony Moonstone
200 Muscari Mix- front of peony and lily beds
50 Hyacinth City of Haarlem-front of peony and lily beds
100 Muscari Plumosum- front street bed

Here are the Colorblends bulbs. I've taken over the basement fridge. DH did not even blink, and lifted the very heavy tray of bulbs down to the basement for me. These bulbs won't get planted until it gets cooler here.
