Each year I plant so many bulbs and think that I will not do it again. But spring comes and I just conveniently forget how much work it was when those lovely flowers all bloom. So I end up ordering a lot of bulbs again so that when Fall comes I am planting like crazy again.

As much garden space as I have , there really isnt any more room for bulbs after this fall.
It's hard to find a place to stand while I dig holes. Like Marilyn ,it is too difficult in spite of the rewards in spring.
We also have a deer problem so constant spraying is necessary until the bloom time has past.
I spray 2 times a week just to keepp the kritters at bay.

Doesn't Brent & Beckies have a late fall sale on any of their bulbs still leftover after October? I seem to remember that they might have one but not sure now.

B&B sale is usually a week or so after Thanksgiving, I think. Van Engelen starts sooner -- anybody recall when?

I am thinking about the middle of November for Van Engelen but of course now I can't remember exactly when. The sales are great as far as prices go but the problem is that they are sold out of so much that I am lucky if I see things I still want on the sales list. And I can't imagine having a lot to plant in late November. The weather is cold and yucky by then. I am thinking a few bulbs would be okay to have to do then, but not massive plantings.

After I made my second order with them (B&B) and ordered Hyacinths from
Sheepers, I noticed they (B&B) had Hyacinths discounted 10%.

Don't know about about anything else though right now.

They probably will in Nov.

edited to stated: I didn't read farther down (about Nov.) when I made my post.

I am freezing out there today again trying to plant. That wind just needs to die down. Weekend should be better, wind should be gone. So weather drives me inside. So WHAT do I end up doing? I buy more bulbs! Yes, crazy!! Whistling Hilarious! Shrug!

Okay, not to think I totally lost my mind but I was on Amazon then somehow crocus bulbs come up, then I search the web for information about that variety and end up on a tulip site I bought from last year. Don't want any of their crocus (I have plenty here now, thank you very much) but see these 'Lemon Giant' greiggii class tulips I tried to buy from them last year but they were sold out and I couldn't get them.

So I think if I got them then where to put them and a brilliant idea comes to mind and I know exactly where. Plus they will be directly off my back patio in amoung some daylilies. Then daylilies directly in front of them will have red Greiggii class tulips called 'Julius Caesar'. Red and yellow combos look great together.

Not to worry as I only got 20 of the 'Lemon Giant' tulips so no big deal in the general scheme of things. But these are impossible to find and I really wanted them. So I figgured no point in waiting, who knows if they would be available in future years. Better get them now. And they come back year after year.

And what we gardeners don't do in all kinds of weather.
My bulb planting might be curtailed on Sunday,--- as they are predicting snow and freezing temperatures, here.
I am still waiting for part of an order, so will dig some trenches ready for those bulbs.
The ground won't freeze right away, but it gets harder to be out there.

It must be really late there in zone 3 for bulb planting. W e can get snow here in November, usually end of November. But often we don't and it stays above freezing, at least during the daytime.

If any of you southerners are daffodil lovers, Van Engelen has a mix made just for you. Called The Narcissus Southland Grand Mixture, it is especially suitable for zones 8-10.

1st round ready to go into dedicated refrig for forcing; still have 70 more to pot up for round 2, they'll go into a tote placed in covered basement stairwell.
