I know this is an old thread but I bought this with a tag saying good to zone 7? Any one test this for hardiness? We went down to about 22 last night. I did take cuttings. However, added this to a clients yard so I maybe replacing, it's near the foundation of the house so maybe safe. We do periodically get to 15 degrees in the winter.

Mine croaked in Zone 7a. Try mulching around the base, like a big pile of leaves. It may survive.

Oh dear, will do. We have had so much rain too. It was beautiful a few days ago. Good thing I took cuttings, they already have roots.

@springcolor Julia

Rick Corey stated (in a comment on the Limelight db) that Richard F. Dufresne gives the hardiness zone as zone 8, so maybe that really is the hardiness of this salvia. (might be zone 7 with protection)

The thread "Mexican Sage "Limelight"" in Comment concerning Mexican Sage (Salvia mexicana 'Limelight')

When I grew it one year, it didn't even start blooming for me before frost/freeze arrived. and I haven't grown it again.

Hope the plant sprouts up next year. Crossing Fingers!
