The daylily is Orange Vols. It's a favorite old one.

Sue, I have seen photos of your garden and know how gorgeous it is. Please do share some photos.

It's all a scam, I do tight vignettes so it looks OK, it really is like a hodge podge of everything that I try to cram in! Nothing flows as I want all kinds of plants and garden, Mediterranean, succulents, cottage, etc., and I get overwhelmed, quit and come inside to play on the computer. LOL

stilldew: Mine is also just a typical city size lot as well, but I have zero front yard space. At least you don't have to look at houses or apts. across the street from you . You got the best of both worlds.

Your lilies, iris, perennials etc. are really breathtaking. I would kill to grow those asiatics and orientals you have !

CalifSue: Your tight vignettes are what I've been trying to achieve for years !

Thanks for all the nice comments. Here is a shot of the front sidewalk taken in 2004. That year I had a lot of mums. Then most of them were killed by the next winter. Now I have very few. Funny to look back at old photos and see the changes.

Spring Iris and anemones in back. The stepping stones were taken from someone's trash. I think they had torn down an old brick barbecue.

The east side of the house is just 6' from the neighbor's driveway. I have a small daylily seedling bed there.

Keep the pictures coming. I am going to post some soon.
Susan I noticed the alyssum in your posting above (a few pics) I had alyssum like that last year. Must have been the rain 'cause it stayed fabulous all summer.

Susan, you added more! YAY!

I just love to see the differences in gardens from season to season. The same area can take on an entirely different feel. Please do keep them coming. I'm enjoying the view while it sleets on all the currently-brown plants outside my window!

Here's a photo of the front strip during dayliliy season last summer. The little guy was my neighborhood gardening buddy until he moved. He never liked to get at all dirty, but from the time he was a baby, he sure liked to visit about the flowers and look at the butterflies and bugs.

Wonderful photo! That is the type of garden I am hoping for in the front of our house within a few years (plantings are new right now). Thank you for the inspiration!

You remind me again, that the gardens that I just adore are the smaller ones that remain intimate no matter where you look. It's just beautiful when almost every inch is covered with such beauty. I LOVE your marvelous gardens.

Thanks

This shot is a small area of my neighbor's yard that is located between her house and my driveway. Her driveway is on the other side of the house, so she never sees this area. I asked a couple years ago if it was OK for me to make a bed there and got the OK. I enjoy the area since it is very visible as I walk out of my front door and down my driveway. It's planted with daylilies, Iris and a few reseeding annuals. The house is a rental now and I'm sure will be sold someday, so I don't grow anything there I'd really hate to lose. So far, the renters have not minded me watering and deadheading the plants.

The side of my garage has been used to grow everything from tiny watermelons to Japanese Morning Glories. Last year it was Hyacinth Bean Vines.
