Retirement left this "A" type with some energy and nothing to do.
2007 was the first year. I wasn't as much of a gardener as I am since joining Daves.and have been thrilled with the friends I have made there and see in the crowd on Cubits.
This is a huge piece of property with the house situated at an angle in the upper right hand corner facing south west.

Finally able to walk my gardens for a closer inspection of hellebores that were almost blooming a month ago.
We had a historic windstorm 3 weeks ago and right after a blizzard that dumped 25 inches on us, not to mention freezes.
I hope there are some blooms deep in the plant that will come on with better weather.

Jo Ann that's good news. We have had off and on rain around here for the past few days. The storm that just past over TX and Oklahoma will bring us rain this evening.

Mike. I am itching to get to the raking but it's too wet.
I did lay a stink on the gardens after seeing deer tracks.
I also fertilized the iris.
Tomorrow we are having rain so I will go to Garden store and buy bulbtone for the lilies and spring bulbs.

Jo Ann, looks like a fantastic nursery. I found one last spring in Lancaster, PA that is run by the Amish - huge place, great selections, and much cheaper than my local nurseries. It is only a few hours away and I will definitely be making several trips there this year - once when they are freshly stocked for the spring and again later in the season when they start discounting whatever stock is left, making it even cheaper Green Grin!

I think I've mentioned before that I also have a horrendous deer problem. I've tried all kinds of repellants, alternating brands for a round robin of spraying. It seems to work, but only if I don't miss a spraying - which I've never managed to keep up with while I was working full time. I recently retired, so I should have more time to keep up with it this season. I'm also going to try a systemic tablet method that a fellow gardener recommended. The systemic tablets are supposed to last for months. We'll see...

Terri, I am trying a new spray, plus an application every week ot ten days. None I have used last a month as promised.

Jo Ann, what brand is the new spray you are trying? I agree, applications of the foliar spray need to be applied frequently. I was trying to spray at least every two weeks, but as soon as I missed a re-application the deer were at my plants in a heart beat. I read that applying multiple sprays in a round robin schedule helped deter them from getting used to any single spray. That part seems to work for me, only having trouble when I miss a re-application in a two week timeframe. I've been using three sprays - Bobex, Deer Off, and Deer Away. The systemic pellets that my gardening friend recommended is Repellex

I am using Bonex as a new intro. Liquid Fence is a dud here.
I had no luck with Deer Off.
I guess it's just keep rotating and pray.
