It sounds one of those sterile plants that makes babies on the old plants stalks?

Cypress Vine...................that is what I have!!!!!! My friend gave me a piece & didn't know what it was. Have it in the pot with the Sweet Pea and it is coming along nicely. No blooms yet, but lots of greenery.
Blessed are the Quilters for they are the Piecemakers.

Sorry, Hetty butit is not on the classed invasives list any more. It is listed as non-native, and will seed itself, but since it is an annual, and not aggressive enough to change the ecosystems, it is not classed.

In my garden it is actually somewhat shy. Plus it sure attracts the hummers wonderfully!

I stand corrected. However down here it is not an annual. We don't have frost so it comes back all the time.
I didn't know the hummers liked it! Thumbs up

It dies back here as soon as the night temps go below about 45.

We've had no frost here for the last two winters, either. But it did die, and re-seed.

Well, we are off and running into Fall now.

The Scarlet Passionflower reseting itself now with major buds is a sure sign!

And I am happy that at least this Passionflower is completely hostless! Smiling "Get on over to those purple ones over there!"

Good night! I tip my hat to you.

My neighbor in MD grew the Cypress Vine so it must be able to survive some COLD nites.

Still raining here!!!! Never saw any sun yesterday.

Will be either in Class or working at the quilt show thru Sat so won't be on here much. Anyone in the JAX area, needing a dry place to hang out THur - Sat, stop by the Prime Osborn to see some beautiful quilts.

We're getting a steady light drizzle only right now. I wish it would rain really hard for a couple of hours or more...

You don't want what they had on the West Coast yesterday. Cape Coral had 5 inches of rain in 12 hours...

Yes I see what you are saying Hetti. Its not a good thing for those in low lying areas. It has just been so dry here lately, and we live on top of a hill and one of the highest points in the area called the Highland Ridge and never think about flooding...

Sounds like a nice spot, David, but 'Be Careful What you Wish For'!

We are getting clobbered. My swimming pool is overflowing, so we have had at least 5in since yesterday morning. It's still pouring, and there's more on the way.

Wish I could send you a part of this wonderful water. We're lucky not to be in a flood prone area, as well. Makes it hard to get around though.

Now that its evening I can say that we here finally are having our share of needed rain....It is one of those little things that I am always thankful for after a long, dry, hot spell.

It makes me feel like God loves me.

I know its for us all, but I take it personally and always am happy when it hits my little splap of land and say a little prayer of thanks.

Good Night!

I can sure say Im thankful for the rain. Even the large camellia bushes were wilting, and that takes a lot of dry. My weeds are still going strong tho. The patio is a huge mess from the rain( trees over patio), and I dont care one whit. Ill take the mess any day to get the rain.

I wish I liked eggs, I really really do. I just gag on them, even scrambled. I love to make fried eggs for my husband tho. I love the looks of eggs, the shape, everything about them, except the taste.

Well,

I unfortunately left the gate on my coop unlocked last night and a critter killed 3 of the girls,...what a thing to wake up to. I know farmers and country folk go through that all the time, and for Grandma butchering and cleaning a chicken or two was almost a daily thing,...... but when you only have 6 they are like family. They follow me around the yard. I had to finish one of them off myself,......she was so pitiful.......There is a first time for everything, and this was the first for me. Sad

Oh horrible, horrible! Poor chickens & poor David having to finish 1 girl off. Group hug Group hug

I just now found this thread. Read the 1st page & then jumped in here on the tail end. Boy! I sure wish we had gotten rain yesterday but nary a drop fell. Today doesn't look any more promising either even though it's 70% chance. I think Gainesville is getting all of it. I planted some yarrow yesterday morning that an ATP'er sent me & when I was digging, some places were dry as a bone even though it had rained hard the day before. I was hoping it would rain these 2 days they say we will surely get dumped on; that would give my yarrow a nice start. I will have to water. Sigh. But there's nothing like rain to make plants happy.
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown

So right, very sad for you, David. Sad

Maybe an automatic closer gadget for that gate? We just replaced the cylinder closers on our screen doors and they close very nicely now. Slowly and gently, but very firmly.
