Cool Rita! Maybe they will stick around since you have food. Or they may begin migrating south soon. But they won't forget where you are & the goodies you have for them & I bet they will be back come summer.

Maybe they're just hitting you on their migration but that means they'll likely hit you again on their way back in the spring.

And you never know when one or more is going to decide to stick around. They do breed in your area in the summer. The babies have to find new territory b/c they can't take their parents territory.

I hope you do Rita. I know how much you love the birds.

I love that I have lots of nice birds here in my yard all the time but something new would be extra nice! I have lots of shrubs and habitat to attract them but then I also do feed them birdseeds.
How about getting some meal worms for the ones who don't eat seed? You can get them dried or frozen.

Do you guys have Lowe's or Home Depot's up there? They generally carry them. Orrrrr there are places online where you can order them, the dried ones that is. Any place that sells bird seed should carry them.

Name: Margaret Near Kamloops, BC, Canada (Zone 3a)
No Lowe's yet, have Home Depot but have never seen dried worms along with their bird seed or feeders, I looked at Walmart last year, they didn't have any.
Margaret: If you have Wal-Mart in your area they usually carry dehydrated mealworms in the section that carries birdseed and feeders etc. I get the Kaytee dehydrated mealworms for $6.92 a bag at our local Walmart. I used to buy small plastic containers of dehydrated mealworms at Pet Smart for @ $9.99 but was so glad when Walmart started carrying the bags; larger quantity for less money! I mix them in with seed and also have a little feeder that I put only mealworms in for the birds who particularly like them.
If you want to really freak him out then get some live meal worms! Better yet, start raising them yourself!

I often have live mealworms for the birds but usually in nesting season. They do love those mealworms. And so do chickens love them. I know because I once had chicks that I incubated from fertile eggs.
