I had a brilliant idea, well, two brilliant ideas, today so I did garden tips for the garden ideas and sent them. We will see if Trish thinks they are brilliant or not. Making soup today in the crock-pot using Bob's Red Mill Veggie Soup base as the starter. It is a dry mix and you add your own seasonings. Makes a really nice rich hearty soup.

I am not the world' s best cook. *Blush* In fact I am not a very good cook at all. Hilarious! But since getting my crockpot I find that I can make lots more good tasting meals that are easy to do. Love that crockpot.

I have to get to pulling the last of the backyard cucumber vines. They sure did last long as these are the burpless cucumbers I bought and planted as seedlings early May. They are done now but geez, it is October already so no complaints from me about the cukes. Great year for cucumbers here in my garden.

Rita, know I have asked this before, but dain bramage, you know...What brand is the convection/microwave oven you got? I am thinking I would rather spend the money on one of those than call out a repair person to fix the gas oven here.

I got mine on HSN but I don't think they carry that model any longer. Mine is one of Wolfgang Pucks cooking line. I don't see any model number. On the instruction booklet they just call it the Wolfgang Puck 26L Digital Convection and Rotisserie Oven. I do love it but I don't think my thanksgiving turkey would fit in there.

I don't cook anything that large, usually, so it would work for us. Thank you, Rita.

Well, they do claim you can cook a turkey but it must be a VERY small turkey. One of those nice large oven roaster chickens would fit in there really nice with plenty of leftover room. And really I just cook a turkey at thanksgiving. But I like around 16 pounds. Not sure where one would find a small 12 pound turkey that might fit in that oven.

I don't have much family left and they all scatter these days, so it would just be a turkey breast or some chicken quarters. Maybe a ham. I think it would help with portion control. Baking just a dozen cookies at a time instead of a large sheet pan's worth, which would mean I wouldn't fire up the big oven for just a little bit of food.

I like plenty of Turkey leftovers as really I only usually do turkey once a year now. Love ham but not having ham since I am on the salt restricted diet. I also love those larger oven roaster chickens. Some mashed potatoes, gravy and a nice baked chicken. Oh yumm, yumm.

Thumb of 2013-10-02/Newyorkrita/419206
View out the window near my back patio. White flowered weeds and red berries and roses. I keep looking at it and thinking how pretty the red and white looks.

Yep, they are weeds. I get them in various places around the garden and I mostly pull them out. But these near the roses Really wanted to stay so I left them. Really looks good together.

We should all have such attractive weeds! That's lovely! Do you know what those "weeds" are? If not, maybe you could post a couple of pics over in the Plant ID forum?

Another gorgeous summery type day here. Not too warm but certainly not feeling like October. Instead of working in the garden I am just being lazy sitting in an outside chair watching the backyard birds come eat their seed.

My big deal for the day was going to the supermarket and buying groceries. Saw lots of pots of mums for sale in front of supermarket. Looked really pretty but I have no idea where I might plant any so I just ignored them and walked right on by.

Did buy apples cause it is time for fall apples. I haven't had apples in quite some time so was feeling like having apples.
