vbprog said:Thanks for the picture Robin. I brought in my brugmansia last week and the other day I found small white things under some leaves. I put it back outside for a day or two and the rain and weather got rid of them. I'm bringing it back in today. If it happens again I'll take pictures and maybe you and others on this forum can advise me. Maybe it's listerine time...

Glenn, I'd rinse all the little white things off with a dishsoap solution first and then spray it down with Listerine. It should work. MR

Look what I found on my camellia that must have been living in my house for weeks since I brought the plant in back in Sept. I almost had a "fit" when I went to pick it up, thinking it was a leaf and it opened its little eyes and looked at me. I just wanted to hug it, but I thought I had better ask my SIL to pick it up so I did not miss it with my arthritic fingers. I did not want my dog to eat it and get sick. That would have been a good possibility had I dropped it.
Isn't he a cutie?

Adorable house frog. You should keep him in your greenhouse for insect control!

Marilyn, do you have CP's? I didn't mean to get a collection -- just my one ping -- but my friends are being helpful and now as of Friday I have sundews and fly traps, too: I am studying up (online and D'Amato's "Savage Garden") but I'm brand new at this and trying to drum up business for a lively thread where we can get help when we need it: The thread "succulent-like plants" in Cactus and Succulents forum

I am trying to picture you running around trying to swat flies (outside of course) to feed to those little meat eaters. Rolling on the floor laughing

Sorry, Mother R....no CPs....I have Christmas cactus & amaryllis, 2 orchids, a cyclamen...and that's it! No orange kitty either, although I did have a large one named Maxwell...he was the terror of the neighborhood, as this was before cats became indoor pets....

Come on ladies, Now must I get an orange cat?????My kids would kill me if I brought another animal on to this farm. We could use a few more barn cats for the winter. Hmmmmm.

Those pictures of the plants and bugs make me crawl. I am not very buggy friendly. Spiders send me over the edge and I am sorry to say I kill them if I can. I know they eat other insects, but we have some nasty spiders here in NJ.

Have a great day. This is a busy one here.

I'm very good at swatting flies, but I just keep the swatter handy and wait 'till they come to me... Big Grin

Why doesn't everyone just order a little CP? Thumbs up It's getting to the time when many of them go into dormancy, but if you go to http://www.californiacarnivore... they still have the tropicals for sale... The midget sundews (they call them something else) are no bigger than a penny, so you HAVE to have room for them! Whistling MR

They PREFER spiders. I've discovered I'm not at all squeamish about feeding insects to my plants -- I truly dislike insects that are not endangered and do nothing but attack creatures that ARE endangered. You might discover that you enjoy feeding recently squashed spiders to plants...

MotherRaphaela when I smash them their isn't anything to pick up to feed. It is all squash. Rolling on the floor laughing One year I bought 1500 ladybugs to release in the greenhouse and bird room to keep the bugs off the plants. I released just a couple in the bird room and the rest of the 1500 in to the greenhouse. Not a week later we had a blizzard and the one panel blew out of the greenhouse................all my ladybugs were gone. I was so sad. I just love ladybugs. This year we seemed to have an abundance of them around, so maybe over the years those that blew away didn't go too far and they may have multiplied.
I was so upset with that blizzard. Sighing!

We've got a blizzard of ladybugs!

The CPs don't care how squashed the bugs are -- just pick the mush up with a toothpick and smooth it on -- smoothing makes it think the bug is moving. I know this is gross, but at least it puts bug carcasses to a good use!

MR-Perhaps you should consider posting about your 'babies' in the "pets" thread! ;) Hilarious!
