Planet Max, Desert Icicle and Julie Newmar are all way at the top of my list too. Planet Max is one that people walking by always comment on and I've given away a number of chunks of it. Think the fact that it's so tall makes it stand out.

I was just looking this one up to see if the price has come down. I drooled over this one as a seedling at John Rice's. The color is just -- "luscious." Tall, beautiful branching... it has it all. Some day, I will be able to trade for a piece or something. I just love it. I have an open spot in my front bed just waiting for it! LOL

He named it "Reining"

If you all didn't see this on the June blooms thread, here is one of my very favorite purples. John Rice's Theodore Kline. It is blooming on a "prebloom" scape - a rebloom scape left over from last year.

The white edge on Theodore Kline really sets it off. Very nice one. I'd love to see a list of the 100 daylilies you decided to keep out of all yours. Bet you selected only the best of the best.

Susan, I went out and made a list of them - I have some things going on right now, but in a couple weeks, I will start a thread of the ones I kept and why. Everyone likes something different about daylilies - but I tried to keep a wide selection of colors, forms and sizes.

There are a few I really miss - but then I remember why I don't have them anymore.

Such as Webster's Pink Wonder. Huge thing! Great parent.... but the scapes did not hold up the flowers if more than one was open.

That will be a very interesting thread. I know sometime I fall in love with a photo and then when the plant comes it blooms too low or for someother reason is not what I expected.

Here's one that had me at the first photo I saw of it. Had to wait awhile before it became affordable, then planted a litle tiny fan last Spring. This is it's very FFO ever for me and I must say it's even better than expected. Just love the color combination on Purple Maze. It's going on my favorite list.

Nichole, the photo you posted today, does not look like the one you posted at the top of this thread
http://cubits.org/Daylilies/th...

are those blooms on the same plant?

Was the weather totally different? If it is the same plant, that is a really wide difference in the way the blooms look. Wonder what causes that? I know weather does influence bloom, but I never realized it could change so much.

Here is a great photo of Paper Butterfly - I think this woman lives in Florida, so her weather should be similar to yours

Frillylily, the blooms so far on Purple Maze have had that ruffled center. I will have to check them out later in the day.

The one posted on top was blooms from last year and the ones on bottoms are blooms from this year. Same area, same leaves. We've had harsh winter, flooding fall and extreme heat this year.

My flowers from last year (posted above) does not look like the link you just posted, and Florida climate is not like mine. Even west of Alabama (where I bought the flowers from) is warmer than mine.

Sorry Nicole, I have seen this plant in many gardens and even all the ones in PF taken in gardens all over the country look pretty similar and distinctive, only your images look different. When I mentioned yesterday that another one looked incorrect, I didn't look close enough to realize it was your earlier one too. Has yours ever looked like any of the other PF images? It could have been mislabeled from the source, it happens a lot!

It is possible. I bought it from a hybridizing farm. The other thing I notice is that my center is orange, not green. Oh, well. I'll just enjoy it as is....
