Update;
Still have only 3 germinated out of the 10 seeds purchased. I received my new batch of 20 seeds from US this time and it said on the instructions that it takes 8 months for seeds to germinate!! Who can wait that long. Well, I am going to do the same thing again but I am going to remove the young seedlings before adding more seed to the same container. The seedlings are on their 2 nd. leaf. I'll show pictures when I do it.

Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing David now that is funny!! There is a "myth" that asian people view birds pooping on someone as good luck...I clerified with a few chinese friends...its that they believe in "flow" - therefore if you get pooped on, you've had your bad luck and are ready to experience your good luck! I like that!!!
I totally feel that hummers are little fairies! Blessing me as they bomb around my head! At first I had no idea what the heck it was, it was so noisy!
Anyway - I wish everyone their fair share of good luck! Lovey dubby
Stush - 8 months! Thats wild! Good luck with those! nodding Rolling on the floor laughing

Update on the Aloe poly seeds. Transplanted the three larger ones into their own pots. Sadly, one died. Seems it didn't have a very well developed root system. The other two are doing fine. Good news on the new batch, now have 4 plants germinated. Picture coming soon.

Maybe I'll order some more seeds sometime this year so I have some to sell later.
I'm still trying to figure out which method of sowing seeds works best for me.

Hang fire on buying more seeds just yet - give the others time. I ended up throwing out some of my poly seedlings because most of the seeds I planted eventually germinated and I had too many!
I'm over wintering 2 one yr old seedlings indoors because I didn't know how they'd do outside for the first (UK) winter but the others outside are looking fine, despite out terrible, wet, storm weather for the last 3-4 weeks. Well, all bar the one that got smashed by hail. But I'm hoping that even that will rally once spring comes Smiling

meadowyck said:Thanks Stush for taking the time to give us updates. gosh since seeing this one I've done nothing but think of it. I looked at the plant and the price is too steep for me, well at least until I get back to work, then should that ever happen, look out, as I'm getting this one.

I went to the library the other day and picked up some books, and I'm so in love with "Succulent container gardens by Debra Lee Baldwin" and the ways that the plants are displayed....OMGoodness......LOL

I would consider 3/10 a success, even if you fell short, seeds ain't easy!

I do the same thing with seeds that I do with most succulent cuttings, find a big ole pot of something else and chuck em in! It works way better for me!
Please tree mail me for trades, I'm ALWAYS actively looking for more new plants, and love to trade!

Up date; I thought I lost one. I had them planted in those 3 oz. Dixie cups and was too deep for their root system. Replanted in cream pie containers with clear plastic tops. Later removed the tops to become saucers below them. All the leaves rotted and I almost tossed it. Then last week, noticed new growth in center. Seems they like peaty soil better than a gritty mix.
I have two promised out and have 3 other smaller ones to transplant. I can give out 3 to who wants them. Keeping the tray moist and covered just in case some late sprouters should show up. So far, none. I think I should keep a while longer before sending out.
That one on the lower right is the one I thought I lost, it had as many leaves as the others.

I took the largest one at bottom out and it is the one above. Only 3 left to transplant.

Gigi,
They are free for postage. Tell hubby you will just have to go out and buy one now.
Just kidding. Takes two to make life more enjoyable. I don't know how fast or if they could be controlled. My plan is to keep planted in a small pot and see what happens. Where I'm at, I will have to bring in during winter. A lot of places are too hot and dry. These Aloes and more water loving and hardier then most. I have had fun starting them and growing them. They were actually easy for me. Some are very hard. I just wish I had more success with germination rate.
So far no luck with Pachypodium and 20% luck with Adenium. I think you must know the seeds are fresh. With EBay vendors, just can't tell.

Thanks Stush... He will eventually give in. "a happy wife is a happy life".

I checked the database, looks like no one really owns this plant. The pictures are mostly from botanical gardens.

I'm afraid to germinate anything from seeds. Must be my green thumb, I have 70+ plumeria seedlings growing right now. Some are not even 2 years old and they are 3 feet tall. (yikes!) The majority of them I kept in small pots just so they do not become trees right away.
