flaflwrgrl said:Thanks both of you. Yes, the ones that are not blooming have foliage sparse as it may be but otherwise I would not have been able to find them. I'm going to put markers where they are so I can dig them after the foliage dies. We have pretty dry summers here so I'm thinking I can go ahead & plant them in their new spots & just let nature take her course & they will bloom at the appropriate time rather than to refrigerate them until fall.
Hilarious! Yes, Susan, winter to you, spring to us. I have a friend in Va. Bch. who says it was beautiful today ~~~ light jacket weather but sigh..... tomorrow rain then sleet/freezing rain & 4" of snow. I know you guys are so sick of winter!

You are right it was just beautiful, and I had to work. Grumbling . Now we do have a storm coming so I am trying to scramble to the store and do some preparations just in case we loose power. Whistling

Here's hoping you have no loss of power Susan.

What a whacky weather year! We've had much colder temps. more often than normal & yet last year at this time ALL the grass/weeds were brown but THIS year there are still areas that never got brown. Confused Confused Confused And I'm sure now they won't. How strange. We had basically no fall ~~ a week or 2 & that's it. Strange.

Thank You! We have dogged a lot of bullets in the past few years. Almost no winter to speak of.
Speaking of whacky, we were 70° yesterday at this time and now we are 30°F. It was not supposed to get this cold till late afternoon, we had some sleet or ice pellets for about an hour. Now it is quiet, humm.

We got about 3 inches of sleet here. It was CRAZY. We first had freezing rain and then it started storming. There was thunder and lightning. I have never seen anything like this here!

We had that too! It was Thunder Sleet!! Whistling Whistling Whistling
Then three inches of snow on top of the sleet which froze under it, then the next day some rain which froze over it, like a snow sandwich or something. LOL.

Not much to show on the ironwood....
I'm still waiting on this tree to show its supposed winter interest...meanwhile I am much more interested in spring bulbs and other early perennials.
It has many of these partly open 'blooms', which we are calling mini-pomegranate, baboon in estrus, not-flowers.

Now I have Spring Fever. It's supposed to get cold again tomorrow. They say going to the tanning bed is an effective treatment if you are depressed in winter. It also causes skin cancer so I always try other methods. Turning on brighter lights in the house helps too. Planting winter interest plants outdoors helps me. Growing plants indoors is good for it too. I just hate the dark and gray of winter. Group hug

Such a difficult winter.
I think I've lost some of my little evergreens.

I still see some, but not all of them.

A geum stayed for me.
My semps seem OK.
Sedums Angelina and Chocolate Ball both turned darker orange than usual, but are still here.
Some but not all of my heuchera, I found this morning, much to me relief.

GOOD THING: Potentilla 'Nana', which stayed green all winter last year, got knocked back a lot and that's GOOD because it turned out to be more thuggish than I had thought so now I'm trying to pull it all out. It buried my groundcover veronicas and lots of other stuff, too.

It's real early yet so some things may still come back but they didn't stay green all winter.

All of my evergreen daylilies went dormant, except the ones that died of root rot. LOL. My heuchera is still sitting there in pots and none lost their color all winter. These are very tuff and I never watered them. Whistling
