I'm fascinated to be asked, good mystery. From these pics, I'm not totally sure. I think it is not S. truncata, and probably S. x buckleyii. To check another way, looking straight at the opening of the flower should help you decide.

S. truncata is only symmetrical when divided in half 1 way, zygomorphic, and lean, usually downward:

S. x buckleyii is symmetrical no matter where it's divided in half, radially symmetrical, actinomorphic, and point straight away from the plant with no bend:

Does that help?

Thanks Tiffany
It does help in that it is still not S. truncata Smiling
previously the dilemma was between S. russelliana vs S. x buckleyi...
and I am hoping that now with confirmation on the pink anthers under the pollen to call it x buckleyi

Well, I have done all of the searching I can and feel fairly confident that is the only thing I can call it Hilarious!
Please, though, if anyone feels my DB submissions are wrong feel free to let me know so that it can be corrected.
Thanks

Are you able to show a pic looking straight @ the bloom opening? No doubt it's difficult to find reliable pics of Schlumbergeras besides S. truncata. Don't think I've ever seen a "for sure" S. russelliana to have a basis for comparison. There is a Schlumbergera facebook group, though I don't visit often to know the general level of knowledge there. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Here is one "head on" and as it hangs--they really do just sort of hang, no pointing straight out or anything

Absolutely gorgeous! Hurray! Thank You! Thumbs up

TY for sharing that view. Definitely actinomorphic viewed @ the opening, (with no bend when viewed from the side, pink pollen.) That's the money-shot, IMVHO, that there is a difference between the flowers of the S. truncata plants sold as CC's, and the elusive, "true CC," S. x buckleyi.

Looks identical to the Matts Landscape CC pic (which looks slightly over-exposed, so hard to say what color the pollen is, but articles that mention pollen color of S. x buckleyi say it is pink.) Fits all the criteria for being S. x buckleyi that I've read/seen.

Thank You! Tiffany!!!
I suppose I should add them to the DB as well then if that's the money-shot as it were to clinch the id?

...now, about this problem I'm having after visiting Matts and watching a little EPI TV Rolling my eyes. oh no! I might not be able to resist Hilarious!

Because I wanted to be sure the ATP Database was accurate because it is always being compared with others, I hesitate to put up anything that may cause questioning. It is a beautiful plant and only a real professional grower could tell you what it is for sure. Even then, a picture sometimes does not show it all. It is up to you what you want to do. Maybe the people on the database will be able to help out. I am sure they will not put it up if there is a question in their mind that it is not accurate. Can you run it by them first and see what they think? I had one I had a problem with and I am trying to remember where I went for an accurate ID.. I think it was CactusGuide but can't be sure. Good luck with your decision. I took pictures of the flowers and the segments and sent them in an email. They were very good about helping me.

Thank you JB,
I hesitate as well; however, all things considered, including its history, what else could it be? realistically, I mean, of course.

You never know for sure unless when you get it the marking is on it and you trust who you got it from. Sighing! Talking from experience. Some of the top sellers make mistakes. I was lucky I caught one of several errors made by one of the so called best companies before I passed it on. You do what you want and if it backfires you deal with it. We all make mistakes. I personally would not do it but that is just because I can't take a chance. Have Merry Christmas.
