Charleen, my Xena is blooming again and she has a sweet scent, with some spicy carnation overtones!!
I love the different scents brugs can have. I have a few with a minty scent, but did not like the one that smelled like Pepto!!! Yuck!
I also have one that smells like hubba bubba gum! Smiling

Charllen,Serendipty is a brutal beast grown in the ground. That is one brug I had to dig up and remove last year it's a tuff brug and should be in everyone garden. just a down right good
old fashion brug.

7doggies said:CB, more beautiful blossoms to drool over!! And it is amazing to see all those lush plants. I grow all my brugs as standards. The blossoms are on much better display in my opinion and I can get to my blossoms when I am hybridizing.
Don't forget to keep a few hardy "oldies" brugs around to breed back into those European beauties. I think one advantage you have in growing the European brugs is that yours are in the ground. I noticed alot more people putting their brugs in the ground this year- myself included.
I am not a rose gardener but I will certainly enjoy yours, in photos, once you get them going!!!

Brenda, When this couple shows up this evening I will snap a few shots are their efforts on

Good Morning Bruglett's,Here are few snap shots of the couple digging on last evening. I were smiling the whole time because they became all teary eyed and could not believe their eyes. They kept reciting William you need to right a book and I kept saying to myself, Hmmmmmmmm I'm just a little humble guy who grow plants for the love of their beauty. they would take a break then shake their heads and say should we forget everything we have read on angel trumpets. I Told them no way we all are different and we all have our way of doing different things the way we do them. Margo said William their is no shade around here and everything is in full sun and not the first brug is in a wilt state. all I said was Hhhmmmmmmmmmm. They repeated to me what is in your soil. I Said only the dirt you see and if you notice their are no cypress much around them and they all laugh because I told them I talk to them and tell them if they wants to live with me they have to produce what they were created for or across the tracks they go.

Here are a few snapshots of their digging process. Nothing brings me much joy than making someone else happy without $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Them.Share Share Share
and it will come back to you.

Wow! What a nice gesture to share all those brugs with another gardener. I agree, wished I lived closer! LOL!

I am going to have to locate "Serendipity" since you mentioned it is a tough brug and will likely stand up to any abuse from weather or soil. I'd love to have one in the ground again. Mine are all in pots and I know they would do so much better in the ground if they could survive my horrible soil. I have knot root nematodes in my yard.

That's neat that you got an award for Beautification in your community. I am not surprised! Thumbs up

I love roses, too. Also growing all mine in pots. But they are doing great and bloom profusely for me. I grow the Knock-outs which are not as wonderful as most roses, but they do well in containers and for me. Though ... I do have climbers also in containers growing up my arbors, so you just never know what will work!

Becky, I wish you were closer as well to take all you could handle. I still have to remove 12 that were left in the front patio but at least I can start planting some rose in their so they can become establish, I'm glad to here of your success on your container gardening. this show that how gardening and be such a joy and I learn so much from gardener who just take a common sense approach when growing any plant. some of the plants the couple dug up on yesterday were cuttings that I started from Eddie last November. so in 7 months many of those plants went from a cutting to an enormous root system with me not doing anything special to them. once the roses become of size I will be rooting many of them to share.

The great part of own root roses they does very well in all climates and even in the northern climates as well. If the freeze happens to knock them back the own root rose
comes back from the soil line even stronger.

William - I will be very interested to read what you have to write about rooting cuttings of roses. That is something I have been thinking about trying. Put me on your list of those you might consider sharing/trading with when you do! I, too, love roses. Didn't know that own root were stronger roses. Maybe that is why my roses are doing so well. All are own root roses grown from very small seedlings that I got in different co-ops over the past few years.

If you or anyone else here share any cuttings of Serendipity, please put me on the wish list. I'd really like to try one that is considered hardy/tough and grow it in the ground. I'll make a place for it in my front yard which has better soil. What kind of fertilizer do you use, William? I've been using MiracleGrow.
