Here is Dendrochilum yuccaefolium, in bloom right now on very short spikes. I didn't detect any scent, but that could easily be drowned out by the beautiful strong Dendrochilum glumaceum ( pics tomorrow as the spikes are opening) and other stuff scenting in the greenhouse right now.

Yet another overcast rainy day here in the midst of the dry season. At least the temps are up and they say we will see some sun tomorrow. I wish I could send some of this rain to Ted and Carol.

Kathy, very nice Cym. sinense! I love the color.

Ursula, that Den. Is new to me too and I really like it!

Have fun, both of you. I would LOVE to go to Apopka with those amazing prices! You are so lucky. If you see any little fragrant ascos, think of me!
Ursula if you see any mini cyms at Deep Cut....I think my Sean Duffin you got me has a spike. I have another white pendant Cym with 4 spikes! I guess they are liking getting their leaves burned in the summer each year! I have preordered a Cym. Kiwi Midnight for Valentine's Day weekend at my fave show in NH.

Hey Jim! We got rain last night... .01"was the official. I got about 3 drops in my gauge...just enough to make a mess of the car. Grumbling It is supposed to be cold ( high 40s /low 60s) for the next week though. Oh well. Hopefully, I'll have something photo worthy in Feb.

Looks like we are out of the cold and wet mode for a while and will see 80 degrees next Monday. I'm ready!

Kathy, just take a flight down to Tampa and I'll do the rest. Perhaps Ursula could tag along!

Jim, it would be difficult for me now at this time of year. Once my Orchids are outside in the Spring, it will be much easier to leave them in my son's care, so we could actually drive down to you.

Sorry Jim.................I "HAVE" to attend a wine tasting Fri PM!!!!! Would enjoy another trip over to the Orchid wonderland, but no time this week.

I mistakenly left 2 Dens out in my plastic GH this entire time. Thought for sure they would be gonners but the seem to be just fine. In fact, they look better than some that have been inside.
Blessed are the Quilters for they are the Piecemakers.

This was the first day in a long while that I was actually able to leave the doors open in my GH's from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM. I am sure my plants enjoyed the fresh air.

Popcorn and champagne for us. We are eating healthy! Whistling

Well, a quick update....long story short, tripped over a broom and pulled a hamstring big time...very very sore.
No Apopka trip from me...

Ken got my Rhyn gigantica from Lowes a couple years ago.
I'm not fond of the fragrance but SO likes it.

Here's a pic from the other day pre Broom attack.

Hi everyone! Happy Groundhog Day! Although, I heard he gave us bad news again...

Anyway, Selby posted a picture on Facebook today and I thought I'd share it and their message with you guys. Here's the photo of a Grammatophyllum scriptum. All credit for the photo to Selby.

Thumb of 2014-02-02/mellielong/ffbeea

And the message said: "Like to have this green beauty? It’s a Grammatophyllum scriptum, a species of orchid! Won’t have to wait too long...“Dan and Margie Orchids” will have for sale at Selby Gardens’ Plant & Garden Festival coming in just 3 weeks—we can’t wait"! http://www.selby.org/events/20...

Now, I don't know if the exact plant will be for sale but I thought if anyone was interested or happened to be heading down that way they might want to know about it. I've never heard of Dan and Margie Orchids - may have to check them out.
