that's a good idea to just leave it in the truck.
I used to buy mulch by the truck load, but don't have that big of beds anymore
most of the yard is pool, palm trees, dogwoods, long leaf pines, shed and shade house.
I'm growing queen palms and ferns mainly. This is my first year with coleus which I will probably sell most of them.
well, I best get started--I've got some ginger plants I want to put out in the yard this year, but not yet--still too cold

I couldn't stand it anymore --it was such a nice day--I dug up some old crapes that need more sun elsewhere, weeded about 100' of beds, planted about 6 ginger plants, vacuumed the front yard, and put down some mulch--got about half the yard done. Supposed to rain tomarrow afternoon, so in the morning I'll fertilize the yard (16-4-8), and if it doesn't rain, I'll just water it in. Everything is so dry and dusty, I had to wear a mask to vac. the yard. I looked like one of those cowboys out on the dusty trail when I was done. Time for a shower!! I'm beginning to feel normal again,( or more like normal people).

I knew this was going to happen, and its really cool---
as the weather becomes more applicable to human existance(sp?),i.e.--not so d#$% cold, these threads are going to become very busy. I just spent a good half hour catching up on all the stuff people are starting to write about what they are doing today. Noone can stand it anymore, and they're all out pruning, planting, growing, chopping--whatever.
WE FEEL ALIVE AGAIN!!!

I set some ginger out in a bed I just finished, but I'm hesitant to actually plant them yet. Think I'll wait just a bit longer....

this little guy(rocky) is really getting bold lately. I've got this feeder right next to the shade house-about 6 feet off the ground, and he doesn't even move anymore when I walk by. I hope he stays away from the cats!!

Jim, would you like some more of those critters? I would love to donate a dozen or more!! I finally built a pvc feeder pole where they can't get to the feeder.
Thumbs up

the only thing I've found that works half way at least is to feed the squirrels at their own station and they will leave the bird feeders alone--most of the time--
but if their feeder is empty, then they go after the birds food........
actually they just do what they want..............

I gave up on trying to control the dang squirrels! I've actually grown to like the little critters. Of course they're the reason I spend waaay too much money on seed!

Rene: I too would love to know about that PVC feeder pole!

Smiling Well, Rocky's little brother, his sister, mom and dad, aunts, uncles and many cousins all seem to reside in my backyard, LOL. Probably grandma and grandpa too!

I will try and get a pic tomorrow. I used a length ot 2" pipe {schedule 40] & placed a three way connection on top then put about a 21/2' length on each side then buried the bottom in cement. You can't have it close to limbs or anything they can jump from. So far it has worked, they can't climb the pvc.

I bought a brass bird feeder with a round-slanted roof and hung it from a tree limb. The squirrels would climb down the rope, but when they tried to hold on to the roof(hang upside down) they would slip off. Was kinda funny at first, but the cats would just wait underneath it, so I had to get rid of it.

I would imagine you could buy a can of spray paint for plastic and decorate it too.

You did a great job Rene!
All I get are blue jays.
I usually see Robins.
I wonder where they are?
