Roses are just so beautiful. As pretty as they are in pictures, nothing beats growing them in your own garden.

Susan ...

There are two other common "spot" diseases that affect roses that are often misidentified as black spot ... cercospora and spot anthracnase.

Oh, don't get me started on rose names ... oh, well I'll just share two which immediately come to mind:

'Happy Butt' bred by Bill Carlson, said to be named for the wife of Bill's boss

and FUBAR bred by Sean McCann. Sean did not know what the acronym meant when he named the rose.

What Desert Roses did you get ?

Smiles,
Lyn

I found this sweet little family run business last year (I have them in my recommendations) and they send bigger plants than SRG or GHS and jet the prices are the same. I just like to look around once in a while because you can find great deals and this one what I found last weekend, I got two of these for 6.95 each. Best price ever!! I had also ordered some seeds before I found these plants and I plan on growing some from seed also, just to see what happens. Green Grin!

It's beautiful. Unfortunately, it won't work in my zone. Thank you for sharing. That's what I love about this site ... I am being introduced to plants I have never heard of before. I am happy to share what I do know about roses because I know I am learning more than I am teaching.

I know there are hardy succulents, but all new projects are on hold this year.

Smiles,
Lyn

Since I don't often wake up in the middle of the night to feed my night fire, I can't do house plants. They freeze almost as well as I do ... Shrug!

I'd be so happy to sleep until March 20th and store up all that energy so I could garden with glee...if the snow has melted by then. We're due to get blitzed twice this weekend.

Yep, they are very vague about exactly how much we shall get over the weekend. But we shall get more snow.

At first they said we could get up to 30 inches from Sat. till Mon. , but have now downgraded it to just some snow during Sun. afternoon. After the last couple of days I need a break.

I guess it depends on your point of view... Smiling The weather liars are saying we are going to get snow at my elevation at 3 am. One site says that there will be "little or no accumulation" and another site says we'll get "1 to 3 inches" ... yeah, inches not feet. Then it will turn to rain around 4 pm, but they will be getting snow at the higher elevations for a few days.

I am pleased to see any precipitation. I am so tired of pulling a stiff hose around to water the plants.

Smiles,
Lyn

10 inches is no joke, I would have cried if I got more. I was very tired and my pot ghetto was looking a lot like yours. Whistling
