Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Mat.6:28-29

Not me ... no way, those bugs are just too big ...

Susan, I am located on the other side of the valley from the Sierras. Weaverville is located in the lower Cascade mountains. Yet, our county is a primary source of water going down south.

Smiles,
Lyn

Just a random account of my day and "how its been"
I save my single-serve coffee grounds in a quart container and toss them on acis loving plants all winter.
The hydrangea is easy in deep snow cause I just open my bedroom window and toss the grounds strait down.
Japanese Iris are another matter they are deeper into the garden off the deck.I shoveled thru a bank of snow and tossed a quart of grounds on a spot where I guessed my new Japanese iris was but after a consult with garden pix I realized I missed by a foot and when the grounds lower with snow melt, the astilbe Lilliput will be the recipient.NUTS.

30 days til spring but there are signs.I heard Cardinal mating calls just this morning. No sign of hibernating mammals tho.
There have been a few geese in formation but not as many as will show up here in March.

When I got home yesterday, I saw a robin in the front yard and she pulled a big worm out of the ground. I was so excited for her. LOL.

I think we are going to have an early spring. I saw a hint of yellow on my forsythia bushes. Usually, that doesn't happen until March.

I am jealous or your robins and budding blooms. We have more snow that I have ever seen and more on the way. An early spring would be wonderful, but I will believe it when I see it.

@GardenQuilts .......

I think the timing of the plants are off because of the drought, but the forsythias are a pretty good indicator plant.

I wanted a long and very wet spring, but I don't think that is going to happen.

The weeds are leaping out of the ground, now, and I usually don't have to worry too much about them for another month .... Grumbling

I have the same problem. Grumbling The grass is dead but the weeds seem to be evergreen. LOL.
At least the snow is gone and the robins can find some good worms.

It went to 53* yesterday and the snow pack is lowering. There are a few places where I can see bare ground and the tops of last years lily stems are showing.Cold today and bitter cold next week.We have had serious blizzards the first week of March so I am not really excited yet.

A minor snow event for next Tuesday with a few more minor snowfalls for the first weekend in March. Still, it's good to watch the snow disappearing.
