Nice photos Greg. The S muscoideum is very interesting.

Celene, can't wait to see your new plants. Don't worry about the name thing for now. It is great that we can still look them up in our database by Sedum. Hurray!

Nice new plants Greg. I have to agree with you that once you get the semp collecting urge, the sedum one isn't far behind! Hilarious!

They go so well together! Also, I'm still thrilled at finding all these plants that are "cold hardy" where have they been all my life Rolling on the floor laughing I'm sure I saw sedum in MI I just really don't remember it! Whistling

I got a mixture of about 2-3 kinds of Sedum, and I just let it loose.
Growing, conquering new territories but really, starts looking bad. WHAT can be done?
Can Sedum be trimmed?
Should I dig it all up and re-organize? There's also some other plants growing in that area.

I think your clumps of sedum are very pretty! Yes, they can be trimmed back and will look thicker and it will also eliminate those bare stems. As far as keeping them in a confined area, they would pretty much need to be in a container or if in the garden, have some kind of barrier around them that the roots can't penetrate.

@gg5 Do your Sedum divergens always have that color? I think this is the one in your avatar?

Mine don't color up like that.. course they are in shade, so maybe that makes a difference.

The shade may make a difference Marilyn, but I got these last spring, and they were fat and red just like this, and have stayed this way. I've only had them in full sun. I noticed it had seedlings in the pot that I transfered them from and those have also been in full sun and stayed green. Today I noticed there is a little bit of coloration coming up on them, so it may be how old the plants are??? The woman who gave me them said that she'd had them in the pot for over 10 years. Thumbs up

They love the cold weather, and probably don't mind to ups and downs in temps because they're from mountainous regions! Thumbs up

I agree
It would be the drying winds that would be more harmful to them.

Hurray! Hurray! Don't ya just love that - when you find something coming back!!! Does John Creech have any red parts on it? Because there are also reddish new growth tips in your photo! Hurray!
Thumbs up
I've been loving sedum and delosperma lately! I think partly because you can take cuttings and they grow so fast!
Semps you have to wait a year or so!! I tip my hat to you.

Haven't seen in red on it. I am just so glad to see something actually greening up.
We did not get the rain/snow predicted today and the sunshine called me out to peek. Hurray! Hurray!

I see some glimpses of red and I at first thought they were just the sprigs being thrown off the over tree limbs of it's seedpods

Now I am not sure. I will keep an eye on it. I do like the form of this sedum floret or whatever it is called.

Yes that looks like its attached to the stem. Even if it isn't, it is surely a sedum rosette of one type or another! Thumbs up
