I need to get out and take photos of the few sedum that have started to come back to life now that we've finally had a few warm days. I have already picked up a couple new ones at the little nursery just a couple blocks from me. This is Blue Pearl:

This one is suppose to be Lime Zinger The red edge shown in the database isn't showing, so hopefully it's the right one. I got two nice pots of it.

Looks good! Lime Zinger will get the red edges as the temps change.

I can't believe it, but it's actually snowing outside here right now. And that's no April fools joke either.

I bought a new sedum and will try to keep it alive inside until the weather moderates a bit more.

It's got really cold here again today too. Hopefully the sedum won't mind, but a couple other succulents I planted may be goners.

Hurray! Marilyn, what is the new sedum? I'm all ears!

Still raining here, temps in the 50's during the day. I am so ready for some ward, dry weather. I need to mow again, but it has been pouring rain.

Susan what other succulents did you plant?

It is a tough little sedum. It should do well for you even in partial shade. It may not get the intense summer color.

Clifton D just called. Hurray!

Hello everyone, it's nice to be able to be here & chat with everyone.I thought i had lost my John Creech and then i noticed things growing.

I thought i had lost everything in this bed and just left it covered in leaves all winter and to my surprise this is what i found when the leaves were removed. Now i have to figure out something to do with them all.

I also have found something else in my rock garden and the only thing i can think of it might be is maybe sedum 'lizard'. I did plant some in the bed last spring,it flowered and then it just dried up and died. Could these be coming back from maybe seeds from the S. 'lizard'.They are small but here's some pictures of the 5 little seedlings.

I'm sure you've noticed there's pollin on everything. In the 1st & 3rd. pictures (i think) little pieces of 'angelina' have found their way across the bed as well.
Does anyone else agree that these little babies could be from the S. 'lizard' i lost last year??

You know the old saying "a watched pot never boils" well a watched seedling never seems to get any bigger.
"angelina' & mystery plant sedum 'lizard' is the only plant i've had in the bed that died & it was planted where these 5 babies are popping up.YOU HAVE TO CLICK ON THESE & BLOW THEM UP OR YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO SEE THEM VERY WELL. Whistling Thumbs up

Sedum 'limelight' & 'sarmentosum' are popping up every where also.
Here 'limelight' has mixed in with 'lineara' & i think the other little babies are 'limelight'

I don't know what these little single stems are going to do but excited to wait and see.
Last fall me & my 2 year old GD were cleaning up some sarmentosum that i thought was dead after the plant started dying back. She just made a pile behind a tree.I can't believe it's growing, click on it to blow it up and pay attention to the soil or rocks it's growing in.
Thumb of 2014-04-14/jojoe/7c374f Hurray!

Things are certainly growing, Jojoe. Are you saying there's growth in places where you didn't place sedum? Lucky you?
And you got your 2 yr old GD wanting to do gardening/cleanup with you already? Lucky you! Hurray!

Bev, that's exactly what's happening.I have little ones popping up out of the pea gravel all over.I just figured let it grow when it's big enough dig it up & put it somewhere else.

The place that Lily picked to toss the sarmentosum is hard, rocky ground.Hopefully it will just keep going and serve as a great ground cover with a bright yellow surprise when it blooms. Once it comes out of dormancy & gets going good it runs. In the fall the runners die back or i thought so.I removed the runners and Lily hauled them off in her little wheel barrel.I can't believe the dead looking runners came back.

We had one of the worse winters in a long time and the sarmentosum never died back completely but turned the prettiest color. Also remember Greg suggested i add some 'angelina' to keep some color on the stump all winter.
Here's what kind of winter we had,you can't even tell where the edges of the bed is.

Here's the sarmentosum with a pretty peachy color to it before it turns green.
Thumb of 2014-04-14/jojoe/189668

All the rain really washes the stump.Last year i put more on it but i think if i just let it cover the stump itself it may not wash as badly with it being more established.
