Those are very nice Neal. So great to have color early in the season like this. I might have 'Goldilocks' in my species mix that I planted but I did not buy it just all by itself. I hope to get some this coming fall to plant. Not sure why I never bought them last fall.

Well, I have been trying to figure out which crocus is which Hilarious!
My early and later varieties don't necessarily follow the rules...
Many of the purples are tommies

These are 'Ruby Giant' with C. chrysanthus 'Prins Claus', for example, neighboring the simultaneously blooming vernus varieties...
Some of the giant purples are also 'Remembrance' and I doubt I could tell the difference between that and 'Flower Record'...same with 'Pickwick' vs. 'King of the Striped' ...

I give up for now--
Here is my first daff in a sunny spot by the foundation (and I don't know what kind it is either--anyone care to hazard a guess?)

That is why I planted my crocus in bunches in separate areas. So that when I bloom I will know what it is by where it is located. Many of these crocus just look too similar for me to tell which is which. But they are all pretty so in a way, it just doesn't matter.

Love those Prins Claus! The Daffodil looks like it could be Pink Charm.

Rita, for years I looked over Crocuses and other little bulbs at ordering time. A few years ago I came across a good deal on snow crocus, I think it was 50 each of 5 varieties. I've been hooked on them since. I used to think of them just as little accent plants, but once I saw them planted in drifts, I realized they can make quite the statement, especially when there's nothing else showing color.

Good way to look at it Neal. For me, I wanted bulbs starting early. Crocus are the way to go on that. Okay, they are not as spectacular as tulips but they bloom a neck of a lot earlier. And each spring I am always looking for the those first blooms after each long winter.

I was outside today taking some of this fall leaf mulch off my daffs that are comming up.

anyway...these guys, Scilla, are tough as nails and make great early spring carpets of blue after the harshest winters and have always been a favorite of mine.

I am loving on the 'Zwanenburg' right now as well...

Dirtdorpins, those are stunning photos! I had Siberian Squills at my mother's house and loved them. They naturalize so nicely, reproducing from bulblets and from seed- I started finding them in the lawn after a few years. Same with Chionodoxa, both are such gorgeous shades of blue. Just planted several of each last fall; it's going to be such a treat to see them again Smiling

There is something similar to those growing in my daughters pachysandra. It blooms at the same time and the mix of blue with the white pachysandra blooms looks lovely.

Everyone's blooms are do lovely. I came home from vacation yesterday? To a garden that had transformed in the week that I had been gone. The Partot tulips are starting to bloom.

My bed with Moris Gudanov has matured quickly. It also has N. Tahiti which has multiplied well over the years.

I'm really enjoying this thread! It's such a pleasure to see all those spring bulbs that don't make it here, except as annuals!
