I've got a spot for one beautiful compact Clematis on my 9b patio in a big pot w roses (Pope John Paul & Barbra Streisand). I'm thinking dark purple, maybe lavender. Or bright pink. Great full sun, shady roots, tall trellis.

Whaddya love? Are there fragrant Clematises?

Thx!

The montana and armandii clematis are fragrant, but they get huge. Another clematis listed as fragrant is Chantily, which is listed to grow 5-7 ft. I planted mine last year, but I have not seen it bloom yet. Here's the link to Brushwood.

Another option is Fleuri, which grows 3-5 ft, and has a gorgeous, rich dark red- purple bloom, but it's not fragrant. I also got this one from Brushwood.

Glad you got a bonus plant
I moved many clems around last fall and couldn't find the sugar sweet blue....yikes...I knew I had bought it and made a tag for it. Finally found the hidden tag, although I planted 2 together so I don't know which is growing now.
