I hope everyone doesn't get mad at me, but I decided to cut the flowers and bring them indoors for my mom. She just loves them and she loves the fragrance. Thumbs up This is the pallida form one.

Cutting for the house is the main reason I started growing flowers in the first place. They do make you happy, don't they. Lovey dubby

Such fun! No worries about anyone fussing over a cut flower. I always cut a stalk or two for Mother's Day to take to moms grave.

A great thing to do for your mother. This way they made two people happy and you happy twice, once when they were growing in the yard and next when your mother is enjoying them in her home. Good for you Cameron. Since I cant cover all of mine and it will be well below freezing I brought my open blooms in my house. This way I can enjoy them one more day and they would have frozen outdoors. smiles

Thanks everyone. Even my brother likes the scent of the blooms Thumbs up Every time I pass by them, I have give them a quick sniff. I love cut flowers.Celia that's so nice of you to do that for your mother's grave. I think next year I'll put a couple of blooms on my dad's grave. Bonnie, I'm glad you'll be able to enjoy your blooms and save them from the freeze. I bet you have some beautiful iris displays. Debra I hope you won't see a frost there. I looked at the news and they said it would be 33 here. I covered a few of my plants but the rest will have to fend for themselves. I really hope this is the last of the frosts and freezes.

Cameron, since we are only a few miles apart, if one of us has a freeze the other one will, too. So I am hoping the opposite is true, too. No frosts for either of us. Big Grin

That's true. I really hope it doesn't freeze. I think we are under the warning from 1am to 10 am. Hopefully neither of us sees a freeze or frost.

I never worry about my rebloomer buds freezing till the temp gets to 28 degrees. And even then, it has to stay there for a while. So I think with the morning temps re-bounding so quickly to mid to upper 30's, everyone's iris will be just fine....Arlyn

Cameron: if you didn't cut off the bottom of the stem to the end. Please do so. Rot attacks the cut stems first. How great to think of your mother.

Thankfully the freeze warning was cancelled at 9 and even then it was 31 for an hour. Everything still looks good. I'd love to see photos of everyone's irises Thumbs up Lucy I went ahead and cut more of the stem off to the end. The flowers look even better today. I also added a few drops of peroxide to the water. Thumbs up
