They are a mountain grasslands plant. The modern SDBs developed in the 1950 are pumila/TB crosses.

They are bearded irises, not sure of temperature in their climate. They are very early blooming.

Cameron, I do not have knowledge of any standard dwarf beardeds except the following two, which I received as trade gifts, but they do very well in Garland. As inexpensive as so many of them are, I'm thinking a Plano experiment might be worthwhile?
