The pumila species often flower in April here. Still going to be awhile.

They are a mountain grasslands plant. The modern SDBs developed in the 1950 are pumila/TB crosses.

That's very interesting. Are they less tolerant of extreme heat compared to Bearded irises?

They are bearded irises, not sure of temperature in their climate. They are very early blooming.

That's probably why some have trouble with the Dwarfs in The deep south, and southwest ...Arlyn

I have several stalks with lots of buds about to bloom in a day or two. Maybe 3 days.

Cameron, I do not have knowledge of any standard dwarf beardeds except the following two, which I received as trade gifts, but they do very well in Garland. As inexpensive as so many of them are, I'm thinking a Plano experiment might be worthwhile?
