Well, I won no ribbons in yesterday's meeting/show, mainly because a guy pulling a wagon load of dancing lady Oncidiums took home all of the prizes. That was the biggest clump of orchids I've ever seen and he deserved to win. Let me show you what I entered:

Gastrophaius (Gp.) Micro Burst 'Wild Thing'

Cym. Cotton Candy 'Winter Princess' And yes, I lifted this thing into the back of my truck by myself.

What I did not take was the huge Dendrobium nobile hybrid because two days before, the flowers started to fade and drop. Sometimes it is all about timing and sometimes it is what the competition brings to the table. Anyway, it is a lot of fun and I encourage others on this thread to give it a try.

It is still in the thirties here in the morning! I am so itching to start moving my plants outside. I had the Epiphyllum hybrids out of the garage, just to put them back in yesterday for a couple more days.

Ouch.

I am still putting out my orchids. I have 2-3 dozen out and 2 dozen more to go (all blooming size). I have also hung a couple of dozen mounted orchids with about the same to go. Then comes the "teen" (NBS) ones and there are at least 75 of those. Only the "baby" orchids will remain in the "Orchid" greenhouse. I hope to pretty much get all the other tropical plants out of the "Everything Else" greenhouse so that I can spray it down good to kill mold, mildew, algae, snails, or anything else I see (or don't see) that needs killing. That's my (personal)greenhouse, spring-cleaning chore. My wife finds plenty more of those chores. Sticking tongue out

I do similar! Once the greenhouse is empty, it gets scrubbed thoroughly along with the shelves.
Btw I found that a couple of larger boxes of the Wet Swiffer pads does a really good job getting the initial crud of the glass and everything else. Smells good too!

Phew! Every so often in winter I think about a greenhouse. All the scrubbing talk dissuades me.

Jim your show orchids are magnificent. I sure hope my Wild Thing grows up to be as lovely as yours!

I am babysitting the other granddaughter and have a fabulous shot of her helping me replant an Earth Box. Very grubby and happy. Now how to get it off my phone to this tablet. . . Blinking

I don't really scrub anything, Elaine. I just make up a dilution of Outdoor Bleach and spray everything down. Then after 1/2 hr. I'll wash everything off with water. People can say what they want about bleach, but for me, it is almost a miracle cleanser, disinfectant, and killer of bad (greenhouse) stuff.

You buy so much of that, you probably get it for a whole lot less per lb. than what I have to pay. I just buy it by the 1 1/2 gal jug.
