The heat and humidity are returning right on time so gardening work is being confined to early mornings and late afternoons. Most of May is hot and dry so the primary gardening tool will be the hose. Out in the OC, Epy. Mabel Kanda x Cyp. cordigerum (I looked and it is not registered) has opened a few flowers on the first of two long spikes.
The Psychopsis Mendenhall alba 'Yellow Butterfly' has opened a nice flower.
Out under the oaks, this NOID Epi, (living in dirt) is looking good.
Then there are the Phaius and Gastrophaius:
Cym Little Black Sambo continues to bloom.
And Arundina graminisolia is looking good. The one in the ground is out performing the one in the pot.
Cym. Valley League is doing well in her new big pot.
Finally, here is a pic of the big Epi. radicans that hangs from a tree branch and takes care of herself.

We seem to have really had a spring here this year. Cool nights, days are warming up tho. But still haven't turned on the AC...Thank Goodness for large windows on both sides of house where the breezes come from.
Slc Shehrazade Jewel Box
I need to try to get better pics of this, it's really a deeper Rose Red than what is showing up. I just love it.
Epidendrum Hot Pink - Love these, they pretty much take care of themselves, Have the Orange, Red, Purple, and this Hot pink
Nice display!
So far I think I like every Orchid with Caularthron bicornutum as one of the parents, your Sybil is very pretty!
The Slc. Jewel Box 'Scheherazade' has that beautiful red shade which can be tough to capture with our camera at times! Those Epis are always fun!
How about a ridiculously small Orchid bloom?
This is Dendrobium distichum and if you blink, you will miss the ca 2 -3 mm blooms at the very end of the growths.
It seems the Trichoglottis rosea v. breviracema really wants to grow vertical, so I just placed the small pot into a hanging basket. Roots were growing along the long growth anyway, so why repot…
This basket of Cattleya skinneri albescens var occulata 'Debbie' is now just 2 spikes shy of being completely open.
pretty much done opening - Encyclia bractescens
Ascocentrum garayi is now blooming on the main-growth, and I will repost this when the keikis on this are open too, (not visible here).
and Caularthron bicornutum keeps on blooming from several spikes (but it is tough to get them all into the same picture…).
Mj, I have Den leonis, also with distichous growth, but that one somehow doesn't grow well for me.
Elaine, can you attach it to an email or text message to yourself and send it this way to your tablet? Then posting from your tablet is ok? (It posts easily nowadays from an IPad to ATP)
