No outside work done here yet. I have been busy getting tax papers ready and finally got them to the CPA yesterday. So glad that is done unless he calls needing more info.

It rained all day yesterday here also with a dusting of snow overnight too. Cold and windy here today and again tomorrow. Then our warm up starts. Hopefully, I will get my outside clean up started on Monday, the first day of spring.

Kind of nice today with high of 50 and sunny. The snow is pretty much gone so could do a bit of yard clean up. Lots of twigs down from the last 2 storms.

We are starting our spring warm up today. Our high is to be around 41 with less wind than the last 2 days. Sun will be shining in full force so that should take care of the last of the snow. Our 10 day forecast is showing upper 40's and low 50's for highs with lows still mostly below freezing.

So this week I am hoping to get to start doing a little garden clean up. It will be nice to finally be getting outside and getting some dead foliage cleared away.

I dug up 3 shrubs today and potted them up in preparations for eventually moving them to the other house. Taking alot of plants over there to save me money plus some are hard to replace.

Pepper, I am so glad that you are getting that huge task done. Good luck with getting plants dug up and transplanted to the new place. It is really a great undertaking and I am glad that you have friends to help.

I had a stellar day on Saturday with my husband Mike's help and a day laborer. We got the Boxwood Parterre project finished. Just waiting for two benches to arrive from Wayfair this week and then will take finished photos. Also got at least 40 shrubs dug up from the Dogwood Overlook and Millstone Garden. They had become invasive there, seeded about from mature beauty berry and indigo shrubs nearby. Many were rooted in the river rock of the dry creek bed and the gravel base under the conservatory deck. Spent a full 8 hours with a short break for lunch. It was in the 40s and windy and I was chilled and achy from the prolonged exposure. Yesterday was even colder and I gave it a rest. Heading back outside around 11:00 today.

I went outside around 10 this morning. The ground is still frozen but I did get one of my smallest beds cut back. I cut back dead foliage from sedum and a corn stalk that the chipmunks planted last summer. It was breezy which made it too cold to stay out there too long. I'm headed back out there in a bit to cut back another small bed just to see if it has warmed up any. It is sunny and 46.

It looks neat and clean, Jeanne. That's more than I can say with some of my things…

Roses are cut, but due to wet and cold weather, I haven't begun to clean up the rest of the perennials. Ore rain to day. The soil here is totally saturated. Well, March IS one of our wettest months. I love the little chickadee! A friend has three feeders hanging on the eaves of her front porch, and I love to sit in a comfy recliner in her or and watch all the woodpeckers, cardinals, blue jays, chickadees and titmice at her feeders. She also has a little wren house that a pair of chickadees have been placing seed fluff and dried grass in. Babies on the way!

I started some cleaning up in one of my bigger shade beds yesterday. I know it's too early but I'm old and tired so I have to pace myself! I saw a few things coming up.

I need to get started as soon as I can so hopefully all the garden clean up will get done.

I won't be able to do that for a while... it's just beginning to snow again...

Evelyn, you have my complete sympathy. It was like that yesterday.

We finally got a few days without rain. I am way behind in my winter cleaning. Task of the day - cut down the spent ginger stalks.

We're finally getting warm weather ....... and gale-force winds. Grrr. Yesterday we had a Red flag fire warning 70°, 8% humidity and gusts 35+ mph.

Seriously!?!??? At the beginning of the week it was freezing at night. I'm still trying to do winter clean up and prep beds, but the wind drove me indoors yesterday. Hired a college student to help weed who needs extra $ for an overseas class in May.

A foot or more of snow here again. Dumped on us overnight.

Most of the snow is melted here, but more to arrive in a couple of days.

We had rain today and now high winds but the really bad storms fizzled out before reaching the Mississippi River.

Before the rain started, I managed to get outside and spread some much in 3 small flower beds. One is by the driveway and the other 2 are small round beds where our birdhouses are on tall poles. Every little bit helps.




I will try hard to empty the trailer of mulch by Friday so we can go and get another load. Friday is the only day to get it at the sawmill.
