jerseyridgearts said:Well, raining then pouring here today so I did laundry ( Thumbs down ) - our weatherman just said the *S* word for tomorrow morning...with a high of 36 degrees. Oh and cresting rivers.... Sounds like I need to reschedule my hired helper for tomorrow.

That is a 3 year old photo of my perennial bed - probably July ish. It is getting rejuvenated this season, fingers crossed.

You all sounded very industrious today - glad to hear that one DH pitched in on the rock project. I have a helper inside and out - she is my heart. (almost literally since she showed up in the middle of the road right after my first surgery almost three years ago and hasn't left my side since). Today Sophie supervised me cleaning out the fridge Hilarious!

Love this thread, spring is busy time for us all.
I've been cleaning up for the past month, edging the beds with flat shovel, weeding, enlarging some beds, spreading mulch from mountain delivered to driveway, gradually transplanting perennials, herbs and veg grown under lights. Friday I just dropped into bed at 9:00. Hired a pressure washer guy and DH touched up the white paint on porch. Everything looks so neat, for once we aren't letting spring catch us by surprise. Good thing because yesterday afternoon after being out for a couple hours I walked in to a surprise birthday party...for me!
Some friends even drove 3 hours to be here.
It was a beautiful 80 degree day, and of course everyone came out for a look at the gardens. I was so proud that I was on time with spring cleanup and could show off without apologizing.
So go out and move those rocks, edge those gardens and spread that mulch. You never know who might show up to see.

I agree. So glad to see a general chat thread for 2014! Hmmm.... you must have the special touch.

It's raining as we speak so don't know that I'll do much outside. But it's still warm.

I am SOOOOOO beat! Blinking
I don't think I'll be out there today.
If I had a tv in the bedroom, I might not leave the bed!

Rain expected tonight, with a freeze tomorrow night.
I've been passing up chores waiting for that freeze to go by. Maybe by Wednesday I'll be able to attack those.

Exausted but happy! Thumbs up

Welcome! @SCButtercup!! and Happy Birthday, I wish we had a party emotion. LOL. Glad you had a great day and maybe you can get us motivated too. We were at 81° yesterday! I did get a few things done, not as much as I would have liked. Whistling

It's official - I'm in for the day. Sad
My back/neck are killing me.

But after a rest I'll be up for more work when I go out there again.

Gathered up (almost) all of my seedlings and made room for them indoors. I think it's going to be too cold outdoors for most of them through the next couple of days.

Last evening I managed to rake clean my grass garden paths. It's amazing just how much doing that defines the yard as garden areas ...rather than the forest floor look. Hilarious!

I'm doing the same thing, chelle. I didn't get a lot of things (veggies and herbs) planted in their permanent locations yet, so I can stash the pots somewhere where the cold and frost won't be so damaging.

I had to go back to work today, but I did watch the snow from the windows at work! What a strange spring we're having. I'm just going to let my things fend for themselves, and hope for the best. I can't cover everything that is coming up now, and we're supposed to have some very cold temps for a few days, too. Oh well...can't control the weather!

I bought two six packs of pansies at the local nursery and some seeds. I planted the pansies in pots near my kitchen door. I also planted seeds of two types of basil, some sweet peas, nasturtiums, cypress vine, mixed colors sunflowers and heavenly blue morning glories.

I went to the supermarket and did some grocery shopping and then I took my dog for a nice walk. It is really getting windy and supposed to rain overnight and all day tomorrow so figured I had to get the walk and the planting in today.

We got up to 81 today but tomorrow a cold front is coming through and will bring a chance for thunderstorms and our low tomorrow night is 41.
