Don't you mean American corruptions?
BTW: "Fooks" as in "Looks"

Nope, it's an English corruption. The British pronunciation is FEW-sha, same as the American, according to various sources, including the Cambridge Dictionaries Online:

http://dictionary.cambridge.or...

It may be Fooks as in Looks in Germany, but in Russia and the rest of Eastern Europe, it's Foo as in Foo Fighters. Smiling

Yes, JD. The genus was named after "the renowned German botanist Leonhart Fuchs," according to Wikipedia.

I butchered all my Latin when I am around Zuzu, it's awful! *Blush* At least she still recognizes what I mean most of the time. I did like that pronunciation feature you had on DG.

You know, I don't remember the pronunciation feature, but I think it's an excellent idea. I tend to read more about plants than talk about them, so I know the spelling of, but not always the correct pronunciation of, unfamiliar plants.

I recently noticed that what I miss is the ...

This plants grows in....
Phoenix, Arizona
San Diego, California
Etc,.......
Tends to give me a better idea of whether or not it will grow in my immediate area.
Is this where someone tells me that we're still doing that and I've just missed it?

No we don't have that Sherry, I think that was discussed at one time but can't remember what @dave had decided on that. Maybe both the pronunciation and location items are on his TODO list. Smiling

The personal plant list is one of my favorite ATP features. If more people would compile their personal plant lists, we'd know where the plants grow just by the names of the people who own them.
