I was digging iris last week and stumbled and "ran" several feet leaning forward but trying not to fall. Both of my knees are replaced so I fear falling on them or falling at all. After stumbling the several feet I finally reached a lawn chair grabbed the arms and stood up straight. I was very glad I didn't fall. ..................
Me three... I had ACL reconstruction surgery and a miniscus tear fixed on my left knee last summer at the tender age of 48. Even though it is much stronger, I find that kneeling too long makes it swell and I can now tell when a storm is brewing.
I'm glad you managed to keep from falling Paul. I know I don't heal as fast as I used to. I had some soreness in my knee for a few weeks, but it seems to be better now. I think is was the tendens in the back of my knees, as I've had X rays and they don't see any arthritis in them so far. I took a nasty fall last winter and fell flat on my back from a ladder. I was lucky I had no problems from it at all, other then a head ache from hitting my head on the ice.

I have wonky knees too, Paul, but haven't had any replacement surgery. I bend over from the waist and use long-handled
tools, most of the time. Isn't getting old fun ?
My dad who is 77 had both of his knees replaced a few years ago also. It makes me cringe watching him try to get around. Hopefully some day they have a better solution.

Tom....I was digging the seedlings that I sent to you and I tripped on a little wire cage which I had put around a struggling SDB that my hens were scratching around when I let them out in the evening. Luckily my foot came out of the wire or I would have gone down.......my new knees aren't the best but I would still have it done again.

I move slowly and deliberately these days - our "wild " land has lots of potential booby traps - the lurking blackberry vine ; the new gopher hole. Not to mention the garden hose that didn't get coiled up properly. Wire cages are also dangerous. If I'm wearing my reading glasses while walking, I have to remember to shove them up on my head. They affect my balance. Not only my knees, but my hands and wrists are worried over. I can't make pottery with broken parts!
I'm glad you didn't fall, Paul.
Now I'm Extra glad you didn't fall, It would have been all my fault! I will cherish these seedlings Paul, and I'm already planning on what I can cross them with next year. I think my veggie garden is about to take a reduction so I have room for more seedlings!
