Claudia, I'm having a blast with the app. It was less than $10, maybe $4 or $6, I forget. Audubon Birds.

I want something where you can record a bird's song on it & it tells you what bird it is.

Believe it or not Ann they are working on recognition software for birds, bats and frogs. The percentage of correct ids is still quite low though.

The Audubon app has recorded songs associated with each bird. Not the same, but if you can narrow done who you think is singing it works well. My dog always perks up and looks around when I play a song.

I would love a site like that too. We heard the catbirds singing/calling a different call that we had never heard before the other other day. We have a lot more Gray Catbirds this year then we ever have had in the yard. I think since they come for the jelly to we are now getting returning birds and those born and fed here the previous summers.

Yay Claudia! I love the catbirds & they are supposed to be here but I have yet to see or hear one.

I just saw a catbird two days ago for the first time this spring. They usually always come to the suit feeder.

I've been away on vacation, and am just now catching up on all the wonderful pics posted over the last two weeks. Wow, there are some stunners! Summer birds are here in force. A beautiful, intensely blue indigo bunting arrived today. The first hummingbirds arrived a couple of days ago, but when DH hung up a nectar feeder it immediately attracted male orioles - four of them at the last count. No female orioles have arrived yet, so the boys are all hanging out together! Photo is courtesy of DH.

I look a walk today with the dog on the walking and bike path down by the salt water. There are a lot of reeds growing along in there and lots of blackbirds and redwings singing. I think they nest along in those reeds down there.

Whenever we visit the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge we walk along the boardwalk and there are always Red-winged Blackbirds in the reeds, sometimes so many that the sound is really loud so I'm assuming they are nesting there.

Yep, that is what I was thinking. That those birds must nest in along in there. They seem to really like reedy areas.

We have a brood growing here! The Carolina Wrens have taken up residence and are doing double time in feeding the young ones.
I'll have to be keeping a close eye out for the babies to emerge...My four pawed kids can get quite curious, so I'll be accompanying them on their trips outside.
