Tara: How exciting! I love Carolina Wrens and sure wish I could entice them to nest here. At our other house they built nests every year in the martin houses. Great pic's ... I look forward to seeing more and I hope you get a chance to see those cute little wren babies!

Holly: Great shots of the male and female Ruby-throated Hummer! I've seen one or two zoom by already this year but they are so fast I haven't been able to get pictures.

Great pictures! My birds and the weather haven't been very cooperative lately! Birds are shy and it's been cloudy. Grumbling

Gorgeous birds, Rose!

The Wren are outstanding little things...So fun to watch, and not intimidated by your presence either. This gourd is hanging on our covered deck, not 5 feet from my rocking chair. We've had them by the front door as well, trying to start a nest in the mailbox! We have to make certain that it's closed all the time. They do try to nest in some of the strangest places, and I love their 'call' as they make their approach to feed the young...It's almost like they're announcing "incoming"! In fact that's exactly what DH and I say when we hear their 'approach'... "Incoming"!!! Hilarious! It is quite a treat to have them raising the family here! Lovey dubby

I love them too! They just don't stay here long enough! Make a quick stop through here on the way north...Usually only a week, maybe two, and then they're gone... Sad

Enjoy them!

We had a pair of blue buntings drop by the other day but couldn't get a shot of them. We don't see them as often as we use to. We use to have a lot of unused and over grown fields very close. One is now a groomed development and the other two are actively working pastures so we don't see them quite as often.
The one neighbor let the edge of his pasture go to weeds and although it looked terrible I was really pleased thinking it would provide some resources to the birds and butterflies. I came home the other day and it was all mowed down.
Life is Great! Holly

Sorry for the blurs - I was in a rush. I just love the look on this cardinal's face. He looks like he spotted me taking a photo of him in the bath and resented the intrusion on his privacy. Hilarious!

Love seeing photos of buntings. I usually only get a couple of bad shot each year. One year I was lucky enough to get some of the female tho.

Had what I believe is a Swainson's Thrush hanging out on the fence this evening. Also including a couple of Gray Catbirds from the other day.

Nice pics Claudia. I have never heard of that Thrush before. It's so nice to learn about birds that are in other areas & even countries.

I think that one was my first Swanson's in the yard. I have seen them on my walks tho. I have had Hermit Thrushes come to the bird bath. Lots of Thrushes in the woods of course!

Spectacularly beautiful but I dread them in the garden when I will not be here for ten days while chasing cassowaries in the north. Last thing one wants is daylily fans rended going into winter. (You need to expand the first photo).
