Lestv said:The native species Yellow Flag grows everywhere there is a pond, but they have been labeled a nuisance plant now.

Just for clarity, Yellow Flag (Iris pseudacorus) is not native to North America. It has done an excellent job of pushing native irises like Iris virginica and Iris fulva, among other native species, out of their natural habitat. Which is pretty much the definition of an invasive or nuisance plant.

The great thing about this site is you always learn something new. Now the challenge is remembering what I have newly learned.

Some very nice clump shots, Kent, Wintry Sky is one nice iris. It does well here too.

It does here. Smiling And, if it can bloom like that here, it ought to be able to do it most places as our climate is not exactly ideal for irises. It won the Wister Medal last year so I'd imagine it has put on a show like at some recent AIS conventions as well.

What is the iris behind Beauty Becomes Her with the pinkish cream standards and violet/purple falls? Very pretty.

It is a nice one. Not the strongest grower here, but not bad by any means.

Is anyone willing to share their method of "how to plant your irises to form beautiful clumps"? I've seen the "triangle" and plant "back-to-back" methods, but what do you do?
