Stephanie, your garden always amazes me. It is just like a combination park and botanical garden. Deb, what a lovely poppy. Duane, your beds and bright colors are perfect.

Here is a little romp around my yard.

Jewell, that is stunning! I especially love the clematis pic---is that Nelly Moser, and how high does she climb? I'm just starting one this year near an arbor and hoping she gets that high.

Julia, Yes, the yellow is a self seeded daylily and very fragrant. It is the earliest of my daylilies. The Nelly Moser clematis has given me many starts throughout the yard. Thanks nodding It really isn't as huge as it looks. It is laying on a Persian lilac. The Persian lilac is only about five feet tall, but I love the small fragrant flower clusters.

Stephanie, Yes it's a Nelly Moser. It will get as high as you let it and rebloom abundantly. I have given away many starts because any trailing vines tend to root. I currently have four Nelly's around the yard. I usually give them a good hair cut after the first bloom to try and keep them in check. Whistling

I love browsing your garden. You have sweeping vistas of perfection. Hats off to you.

Yes, great info. I am looking for a clematis to share space in my cherry tree and Nelly just might be the ticket. I'm not well schooled on the clematis types, is this one you can just hack back drastically in the spring? I like that type for inside trees/shrubs so I can clean up both the clem and the tree in the early winter.

Deb, Nelly is a member of group 2—Early to midseason flowering and then rebloom in August/September.
The first flush of flowers appear on the previous year's growth. This is followed by a second flush flowers appearing on the new growth. I have found it to be very vigorous and tolerates my whacking. Since we removed the filberts and shade I have noticed the flowers fade to a soft pink as they age.

The Jackanii is a type 3 and blooms right after. It also seems to be vigorous. If I was to plan it out I'd have a 2 and 3 close together for continuous blooms and not have planted my Montana (type 1). I am not a planner though. Everything is sale rack and impulse buys or freebies from other Gardener's.
