I love zinnias and their bright hot colors, at the moment there are tons of these beautiful little yellow butterflies everywhere.

Yes, Lindsey, it is a native here in Florida. We call them swamp hibiscus. They come back from seed every spring and just love it out by the lake.

I like the shape of that hibiscus. Very different than the ones here. I like zinnias too. Don't know why I didn't get any pink ones this year. Have some yellow, gold, orange and red ones blooming now..

So pretty. I love zinnias but they don't seem right at this dairy farm. They remind me of Mexico I guess.

Happy 4th of July!!!

Yesterday I had another open garden day. That makes three and now I can cut roses, cover blueberries etc (the less pretty stuff). It was the coolest day of the run of unseasonably hot days coming this week, so I lucked out there but there was a low turn out (15). The good thing was that I could enjoy each group/person and really get to talk to them. A few asked orchid questions. It really isn't quite daylily peak but next weekend I'd say, it will take hours to deadhead.

The garden was radiant with early to mid season daylilies and JIs and interspecies irises. Roses, delphineums and beebalm too.

Sitting under a tree among all that beauty looks like a perfect way to spend a nice July afternoon. Looks like your garden was very co-operative about looking it's best. It was raining when I got off work this morning, so I took all my orchids out to the deck and let them get a nice rain bath. I was soaked by the time I carried them all out and then back in.

Kathy,
It looks like you had a glorious day for a garden tour! What lucky folks they were to get to see it in person..
and how lucky we are that you take superb photos, I feel like I was there too!
I planted tricyrtis this year and 'Taipei silk' is blooming. I didn't realize how tiny the flowers are Blinking
