Nice, Janice! I'm envious!!! My 'garden' is pathetic...I'm going to be doing some serious editing!

The chrysanthemums got as large as volkswagons, then all split apart...after crowding out a bunch
of other plants, although I do like this yellow with the purple toad lily.

Lucky for me that my potted plants still look half way decent, still a poor example of curb appeal! Crying

Jim, all your exotic plants are givng me serious zone envy. The yellow thryallis and red fire spike and striped butterfly plant are all ones I've never heard of much less seen blooming.

Janice and Lindsey, looks like you both still have lots of color. Nice fall show!

Here you have to hunt under the leaves that are falling to see much, but since there hasn't been a hard frost, most of the annuals are still blooming. I love this Black and Blue salvia.Thumb of 2010-10-14/stilldew/557a5d

Wow Susan, you've still got a lot going on in your garden! Funny about the cuttings...I do the same...every year too! I'm a master gardener, in Va. we had a plant sale in the fall, so I was always starting plants for that..now that I'm a NC master gardener ( and their sale is in the early spring) but I find it's more challenging to keep the baby plants over the winter.

Thanks everyone!
Kathy, yes, the kitty likes it when I am outside and he does his calisthenics in the garden. LOL.
Jim, happy you enjoyed it!
Lindsey, very pretty combo with the Mums and Toad Lily!
Susan, just beautiful! Especially love the dreamy blue Salvia.

Same back Janice!
I was sadly cutting down some of the gardens today. Before the rain tonight and tomorrow.
Love that blue salvia and the mum/toad lily combo. Like that echie too! I have a nice dark blue delphineum blooming in 2 spots, allium thunbergii, and the Jolly Bee geranium are blooming away. Still, it's the end I'm afraid!

Well, this has been one of those weeks when there just were not enough hours to get everything done. I had lots of Master Gardener events to attend including two presentations to give. I did manage to take cuttings of that Christia obcordata and of the Curly-Q copper leaf. I'll have to wait to see if they take. The weather has cooled enough to give me the incentive to get back into the garden and I have been hard at it. I finished the garden with all of the agave and prickly plants and will show it here from different angles. I put in rubber edging, landscape cloth and 4 inches of mulch. I have moved on to the task of refurbishing the yellow garden and should have it finished next week.

Love your tall yellow plant (helianthus?). Just think of it as a tree! Rolling on the floor laughing That Ginger looks so happy! I bet the hellebore will be normal next year.

Nice Helianthus angustifolius, Lindsey! I have one, too and they are such great Autumn bloomers. Love the Mexican Salvia, too.

I love seeing the fall colors in the northern gardens. Thanks for posting.

I finished the yellow garden today by hauling and spreading another two yards of mulch and planting some perennial peanut ground cover. Here are the pics.

The golden rain tree is changing from the yellow flower phase to the brown seed pod phase but they appear reddish in the sun. What a sight!
