There is always a flush of pictures of beautiful blooms and fantastic landscapes in this forum, thanks to those who take the time to capture those beauties and share them.

I doubt these buds all get chance to open before the frost does them in on this rose standard I keep in a pot on my deck. They will be taking up residence in my cold room soon.

Lovely rose buds Ken. Hope you can save them before frost. We are suppose to hit 32 on thurs. Will probably be the end of the impatients along the walk way. 4 flats of cutting need to get inside soon too.Thumb of 2010-10-23/stilldew/0cb41e

This is Ava Agastache. It had a lot of flowers for being newly planted but was a little floppy. Hope it will make it through the winter because most of the agastache I have grown are so much nicer year 2.Thumb of 2010-10-23/stilldew/170f6e

Have forgotten the name of this mum, but the flowers change colors as it blooms, so it has pink, yellow, orange and almost lavender flowers all at once.Thumb of 2010-10-23/stilldew/af5072

Lantana and alyssum still blooming away.

This stray cat, now named Simon, moved into my back yard about a month ago. He has claimed the chaise lounge chair as his own. Guess I'd better get him to the vet and have him neutered since no one seems to be looking for him.Thumb of 2010-10-23/stilldew/56362c

Ditto!! I got into the small penstemons this year, too. Great color on the agastache!

Great stray, too. He certainly found his home there!

Great show Susan, there is no much left here as temps have been down to 27 to 28 deg. a couple times already. This is my hibiscus blooming in house.

I am sure Simon is pleased to have a new home. In June we inherited a stray which showed up in our garage and was very skittish, darting away when approached. He did respond to food and I could get him to come to me when I had a dish of food. Left him outside for a week and then noticed an open wound over left hip. So it was off to Vet with a stray cat for an exam and shot of antibiotics. He then lived in the basement and will for the next while as we have a 16 year old female who doesn't appreciate other members of her kind. After a couple of months with posters up and no inquiries we decided to take him back to Vet for neutering, needles and X-ray of left hip as he has limp when he walks, walking didn't happen often at that time. If you just made eye contact with him when close or approached him, he would scoot away, thus he got the name of Scooter. The X-ray revealed the the hip to have been very badly smashed and the ball was gone from the femur. The Vet said this would have happened when he was very young as the area had repaired itself with cartilage and that Scooter was only about a year old now. He said it had nothing to do with his injury shortly after he showed up. It does not impede his mobility when he wants to rip around but he does not sit on his haunches or crouch for a very long before he lies down, I have even seen him lie down to eat or drink.
Scooter likes the easy life too.

The problem still remaining is getting the 2 cats together as 16 year old still hisses, growls and goes into battle mode when they come face to face through the cage I built to keep them from making direct contact with each other. Her attacks are becoming somewhat less intense, so maybe in a few more months we won't have to keep one in basement and one upstairs, playing musical doors to keep them apart. He is very submissive to her and lays down while she is having her fit and he soooo wants to play with her. Took these pictures while she was in cage, normally he is the one to do the cage time. Not enough light without the flash and didn't work well with flash.

Scooter is sure a beauty. Hopefully I can avoid having to have Simon in a different area than the other pets. For now , the other 3 cats are going out on the deck and seem to do OK there will him. Not sure how my 14 year old male will react to him being in the house. May be a different story, but he did adjust to the addition of 2 new females a couple years ago. Simon runs from my 4 pound poodle, but I don't think it will take him long to figure out that he's about 4 times the dogs size and Pedro won't bother him at all as long as he doesn't run.

Beautiful Pics, Kathy. Suprisingly, I have spikes on my two old ones also. Must have been the three day heatwave we had in Oct.

What are your temps now? We are just finished a few warm days in the 70s (Indian summer). Then we are back to frosty nights. I may move the cymbies inside this weekend.

Kathy, We are going from high 60s, with drizzle, to a couple of days in the low 80s, with wind for the last month. Nights are staying between 56 and 61. Very unusual weather for us at this time of year. Usually, we're at the peak of fire season, but this year we've actually had over 2" of rain since Oct. 1st. We'll take it, but I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. Whistling
