Oooh, I miss the geese. There used to be a spot adjacent to the freeway where they grazed among the cattle on their way south. Alas, the land is being developed now.
Winter is coming. We had ice on the pond on Sunday morning and the hunters had been busy building high-stands and installing sensors in the forest. Deer season starts today, bright and early. Better wear orange the next 2 weeks if you are living there!
I think it is two weeks. First comes buck season, then Doe I think. But I am not 100% sure on that. Most of the time - the fellows ( 5 this year at a clip!!!) who hunt our place get their Deer right in the beginning and then they are done and go home. But this year another fellow starts on Thursday.
Bear season is somewhere in-between too, I am always amazed how many animals they report every year.
We have a bear in the neighborhood that came to this farm before we lived here. We are very careful to take down feeders and never compost food outside so we've never seen it for 8 years. But neighbors have.
Right now we have a lot of flooded roads in our area due to the torrential downpours this week. Normally we take a look at the beautiful Paterson Falls in Winter when they are frozen, but today we paid a visit to the Falls all thawed out and in 'Full Form". It was difficult to approach them from our usual spots but it was still fun to watch the roaring waters tumbling down. I didn't have my camera on me , so these are all snapped with my Cell phone.
Wow. That's spectacular even taken on the cell! We probably have a good show in "the Falls" but I forgot to check today. Went to a coffee house and listened to music there instead.
I used to go to the Great Falls when I lived in Bergen Co. to see the spring thaw. Looks like Niagra Falls this time of year. Beautiful pic with the rainbow! For a normally placid river, the Passaic is really causing trouble these past few years. When will the people in charge realize you can't build everywhere?
