Good and bad news on the ground orchids. All of my nice Spathoglottis plicata orchids are dead.
They were under a tree and covered with blankets but they didn't make it. The Phaius and Bletilla orchids were in small enough pots that I could bring them in the garage and they are fine. No damage to the cyms nor the Nun's cap.
I left the palm Laurel found for me in Miami in the pot and brought it inside the garage a couple of times. It is doing fine and I put it in the ground yesterday. Here is the Cliff date palm or Phoenix rupicola in its new home.
I may have lost the clustering sugar palm (Arenga engleri). It was small and sickly going in so I'm not surprised. I'll replace it. I had some damage to the piccabeen palm (Archontophoenix cunninghamiana). It may or may not make it. Here is a pic:
This toddy fishtail palm (Caryota urens) has some damage but will be just fine.
I just wanted you to see the thorns on this taraw palm (Livistona saribus). By the way, it's the only palm that produces blue fruit.
Ending on a positive note, my ribbon palm (Livistona decora) is just majestic.
