That's a beauty! Great pic post!!! Congrats!
They are hard to ID because there are so many hybrids. Maybe you can find it here (click on the letters on top for more pages). http://bit.ly/gySwkH and http://www.mattslandscape.com/...

Kathy, you moved your Epi when it was in bud, right? Was that the pink cloud or a different one?

Tis the season for epis! This NOID started opening last night, and I got a shot of it this morning. These are not houseplants in my area. Thumb of 2011-04-19/ctcarol/a94b7b I should have a new one every day or so this week, as seven out of nine are ready to pop.

Oh Carol, that is pretty, I really like the color... does it have a bit of orange in it in real life?

I only have 2 Epies, the NoID above and Epiphyllum oxypetalum, and both of them always bloom a lot later for me, more like June... maybe because I don't bother to cool them down in the winter? I usually wait until there's no more frost outside, like around now, and bring them out...

Yes, Clementine, it is a deep orange. I only have a few with names. Most are cuttings passed through neighbors. I have an Epi. oxy also. The first two years it bloomed during the day. I haven't seen it since...only the drooping blooms the next day. They all seem to like the winter temps down to freezing.

I moved four epis in but two bud blasted. Pink Cloud was one. BTW I'm not sure the name is correct. Epis by Pat's pic is quite a different shade!

I keep some of my "hardier" Epis in the garage over the Winter and they are budding now. The species live in the house during the indoor season. Every time I keep one of the species in the garage they don't look too happy after being subjected to temps in the forties for weeks.
I read somewhere that those Epis ( Disocactus) which have ackermannii in their parentage, also inherited not only some tolerance for cool temps with that, but actually need the cool Winter temps to bloom better. Sounds right? I found the red ones will bloom year around but not well, if always kept at even temperatures.

Ursula, I have a red in bud that is very spiny and has more of a species look to the flowers. Not sure if it is an ackermannii or not. Is yours especially prickly?
