thank you very much for yall's advice.I have had them in direct sun since they went outside, now that it's really getting hot I am keeping an eye on them.If the hot Georgia summers are to much for them what should i look for.Wilting, leaves turning yellow, shriveling of leaves etc...

Thanks for the web site, I just love it when people give me new web sites,i do try to research my plants on my own and not just ask questions without looking it up first.

Everyone have a wonderful day Group hug I tip my hat to you.

A few years ago I picked up a pot of noid, rooted cuttings at the local Metropolitan Plant Exchange store. It seems someone simply took several different cuttings of most beautiful blooming Epis and rooted them all together in one pot.
The blooms are truly huge and whatever their names are, I am enjoying their stunning beauty!

Thanks Jojoe!
How much sun for young cuttings? I usually start them in light shade/ mine would be under window screening material, which I have draped over the whole deck, or under a tree. If they can take it/don't burn, I move them into more sun. Large pots are wherever have room, under a tree, in full sun, depending on what the plant looks like or in what stage it is in. No set rules, I watch the plants and shift them around as needed. Now I am in NJ! Yours might just be very happy under a tree.....

I bought a new adenium obsenium sp? The plant had been at wal-mart forever and they wanted an outrageous price for it.Finally they marked them half off.The leaves have mostly dropped,i changed the potting medium and now every stem is getting new leaves. Will it bloom again? It was blooming almost 2 months ago when they came into wal-mart.

I have another one and the leaves look different, can anyone id what kind they are?

Good looking plant, in the third picture. ( and that would be Adenium obesum).
And yes, they will flower again, best if given full sun.

The tag broke on this cactus, but I think it is Echinopsis 'Princess Anne', one of my pretty Schick hybrids. It was open this morning on the deck.

This one started out as a nice clump of cristated growth, but over the years I got tired of cutting off the regular growth. And the cristations won't bloom anyway, so I actually like the combo plant with its long pieces better.

Hi everyone:
I am learning about orchids, so any help, Ideas, suggestions are appreciated. :-)
I tried to save an orchid which was accidentally drowned, but made the same mistake and finished what my siters husband started unknowingly trying to help the poor plant which he thought was going to die because it wasn't being watered. So far I've managed to keep about 4 phalenopsis alive.

I noticed pictures and posts about clivia which is wonderful to me because the cilvia I acquired last November seems to be in trouble for some reason. After searching the internet for weeks I've managed to find conflicting information and no information which seems to tell me how to change the situation for these plants. Out of desperation, I repoted them about 2 weeks ago. There was more root breakage than I wanted to cause, however I can't glue the roots back. They are in a combination of cactus soil, orchid soil, some peat moss, regular potting soil, and humm...I think that's the mixture..oh, a little pearlite but not enough to actually see this substance in the soil.

The leaves are going from their usual color to lime green, yellow, then brown at the ends and slowly the brown nds are getting nearer to the plant stalk. Because of advice from a friend who years ago had one of these plants, I placed them outside this morning. The older plant which has 12 to 25 leaves or so seems to be doing better. The younger plant which had I think about 10 leaves seems to be having slightly more difficulty.

Any help is appreciated for saving my clivia.

One tool which I have found helpful for keeping my orchids moist and not wet is to use a syringe to dribble water onto the top medium to keep it moist while preventing the rest of the medium from the middle to the bottom of the pot from getting saturated. About once a week depending upon how wet the pot is below the top, I will water thoroughly and remove any excess water from the pot in which the clear plastic container is setting.
I often check to be certain my orchids are not sitting in water by looking at the removed plastic container and also I check the roots which may be visible.

I have one orchid in a terracotta orchid pot which seems to need a little more water than the others. This plant came to me drenched in a sphagnum moss stuffed pot. So far the orchid is thriving. The one leaf is growing now.

Dogpack, You don't say what part of the country you're in or climate zone. The best I can tell you is that Clivias are shade plants (bright shade or filtered sun), and like all bulbs they need good drainage and infrequent watering. Like orchids, they seem to bloom best when crowded in their pots. I don't repot mine until the plastic pot is splitting. Big Grin

Oops, perhaps I re-potted mine earlier than I should have, however it seemed like when I checked there was mostly roots and hardly any soil. I didn't know what else to do, so tried new pots and soil. I'm in MD near Annapolis. Just
yesterday, I put the Clivia out on the porch because again, I had no idea about what else to do. And it rained last night so I'm not certain if this is a good thing or not at the moment.

Do you know where there is information on bamboo. I was given some bamboo which had been sitting in a bucket of water and allowed to go dry. I placed it into water as soon as I got home and about 3 or so days placed it in soil. I hope I didn't move it too quickly. It is starting to yellow and I'm not certain if it is too much or too little water. The bamboo is inside.

My Norfolk Pine is going brown on the lower branches almost halfway up also. With my medical stuff, perhaps I'm having trouble figuring out when to water according to touching the soil. Is there another reliable way to figure out when to water. Orchids I have a good idea about because I can remove the clear plastic pot from the container and see if the bark is wet or dry.

I appreciate all of your help. I posted some pictures under clivia on either the house plant or bulb forum I think.

I hope with help here, luck, God, and the plants wanting to live, I will be able to save them.

Perhaps someone here hopefully jumps in....
