Ken, the Star Magnolia, is beautiful. They have always been my favorites.
The magnolias here are just blooming aswell.

Everything seems so behind this year, the early tulips are flowering at the same time as the late tulips Blinking And the peony is only a few inches tall....one of the stems even rotted partially from all the rain Crying The flowering almond is in bud and has been sitting that way for about a week now waiting for a nice day to open. I have a feeling this cold weather will end and we will be directly hit by scorching heat.

I just finished planting the Grugru palm (Acrocomia totai). I got stuck a few times but nothing serious. Leather gloves are a poor defense.

Here is the plant:

Now a close look at the base:

About half way up:

And clear up by the tip ends:

Someone asked me how I will prune it. My response, "With a rifle frrom about 20 feet." If anyone has a better idea, let me know.

What a wonderful greeting, Lindsey! Just beautiful!

The grugru is native to Central and South America. I'm just back from giving my palm talk at a library. I showed them my afternoon planting scars.

My first absolutely wrong label, not China Peach! Stay tuned to many more. After years of not blooming, the labels probably don't correspond when transplanted to a better spot.

Thanks all. The nice thing about the Primulas is they maintain their showy faces rain or shine.

Nice looking Palm Jim, I think I can can come up with a couple thorn bushes to plant around it for protection. Hilarious!

Wow Lindsey, lovely display along the driveway.
